I deeply regret reporting this, but... for all who thought McGeough was done with hockey and has moved on, well not so fast!

This is a little piece of an article from the Regina Leader Post.

'The veteran referee, who's retiring after 20 NHL seasons, has accepted a newly created mentoring position with the league's officials association. As a result, McGeough will be back in the fold -- and back on the ice -- in September when NHL referees and linesmen convene for their annual training camp'

wait you mean the nhl is going to let a 20 year veteran ref take a job mentoring some of the new ones why i never

Yes, he can teach them how to be overly dramatic about making calls and insert themselves into deciding games.

McGeough is one of the only refs I consistently have a problem with over the years. He gets too caught up in the excitement of the game when making calls, and somehow he makes it all about him.

I don't know if I'm alone here but I think I will miss "mr. magoo", sure he wasn't perfect but then again who is (bill mccreary?) he definitely beats the piss out of that worthless cock magnet dan o'halloran. mcgeough was old school, a link to the past and it's too bad he'll be gone. P.S. if you read the whole article he even admits to his own "animated" style, he had a passion for the game just like the players
