Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted September 4, 2008 As per TSN: The Boston Bruins have added some Stanley Cup experience to their young lineup. The Bruins have signed forward Stephane Yelle to a one-year contract, worth $750,000. Yelle, a 12-year NHL veteran, won two Stanley Cups as a member of the Colorado Avalanche in 1996 and 2001. The native of Ottawa, Ontario has spent the last five seasons with the Calgary Flames. Yelle scored three goals and nine assists in 74 regular season games last year. Opie 308 Report post Posted September 4, 2008 (edited) Cant say anything bad about the pick up. Should be a solid addition to there 4th line.. Unfortunately in Boston he will probably be on a scoring line. They will probably try to have him play a wing to Kessel's line. They need some one to replace Murray. Ryder will probably be on the second line with Kessel and Yelle, While the first line right now would have to be Bergeron Savard Lucic/Sturm, eewwwww Or maybe Ryder Savard Bergeron Sturm Kessel Lucic Yelle Axelson Kobasew Schaefer Krejci Nokelainen Reich and Thornton as extras, I know it looks like there are two centers on every line, well that is because the B's have 8 C's. The other problem would be if Kessel reverts back to mid season form and not post season form he could be on the 4th line or even benched again. *Wow putting together those lines was no where near as fun as putting Wings lines together. -- As much as we talk about the Wings signing Hossa as pissing off Pens fans, B's fans around here and the media for some reason thought they had a legit shot at Hossa, the Org must have too, otherwise why not go after a scoring forward until after Hossa made up his mind. Icer 0 Report post Posted September 4, 2008 Yelle was putting up 45-50 points until about two seasons ago. Last year 20..... I could be wrong but I don't see him regaining his scoring touch with Boston.

Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted September 5, 2008 That isnt that bad, the Bruins have alot of under appreciated players. Lucic, Thornton, Kobasew, Krejci, Ference, etc. I expect them to make the playoffs this year, Ottawa wont be able to keep anything out of there net, Toronto is Toronto, Buffalo are alright, Boston may have the best team of the 4. Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted September 5, 2008 Boston's defense is their real problem. They have a lot of guys that are great "supporting cast" players, if you will, that fit in perfectly as gritty #5-6 defenseman, but they aren't top defenseman. I like Aaron Ward a lot, but he isn't a top 4 defenseman, much less a top 2. He's a perfect #5, but given Boston's lack of defensive depth, he ends up being in their top pair. I think if Wideman and Stuart keep developing their offensive game, and become a little more well-rounded in the process, they'll have a pretty solid defensive core. Keep in mind they do have some other up-and-coming prospects in the minors, like Matt Lashoff and Matt Hunwick, for example.
