CenterIce 83 Report post Posted September 18, 2008 (edited) http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app?articleid=38214...mp;service=page NHL.com -- You're up for the Hall of Fame in 2009. Do you think about it? This could be a great class, one that rivals the one that just went in with you, Luc Robitaille, Brian Leetch, Brett Hull all eligible. Do you let your mind wander to that? Yzerman -- "No. You know, of course I'd love to be in the Hall of Fame, but we'll see. It's not something I spend a lot of time thinking about." That is a nice Hall of Fame class. Three being Wings who all played on the same line for a while. Edited September 18, 2008 by CenterIce
Opie 308 Report post Posted September 18, 2008 (edited) Typical Stevie Y: NHL.com -- What about it interests you the most? Yzerman -- "I think it would be a great challenge to put together a team to win the Stanley Cup." NHL.com -- That's it? Yzerman -- "That's all there is." NHL.com -- Do you think it's because you are you, a legend in the game, or is that just their nature? Yzerman -- "No, I think that's just their nature. It's not me." NO Stevie it is you, you are a legend, you are what they hope to one day be, it is you! Edited September 18, 2008 by Opie

Konnan511 1,736 Report post Posted September 18, 2008 NHL.com -- How much are you involved in prospect development and what some of your views on your prospects? Konnan511 1,736 Report post Posted September 18, 2008 It's not like he can say that tho. True, but he could have said something along the lines of "No, it may have something to do with how reserved they are towards me, but I really think it's the nature of these young guys and not necessarily what I did during my hockey career"
Opie 308 Report post Posted September 18, 2008 It's not like he can say that tho. You're right HE can't say that, but again that is what makes him Stevie Y, other players (not even assholes or arrogant players) would have said, "you know maybe it is me, but I think it is out of respect!" But not Stevie, he must have some ego problems or something, this guy is way too humble!! But that is just part of his greatness and legend.
CapnSmitty 39 Report post Posted September 18, 2008 I will always remember when he was booed for this during his retirement night... He was always passing off recongnition, and that night the fans let him know it was ALL about him... That still makes me smile
wingnut40 176 Report post Posted September 18, 2008 (edited) NO Stevie it is you, you are a legend, you are what they hope to one day be, it is you! I loved that quote. I don't see how you can be that humble. Is he pretty much everything good in the world? I will always remember when he was booed for this during his retirement night... The only time it was ever ok to 'boo' Stevie. Edited September 18, 2008 by wingnut40

Guest CaliWingsNut Report post Posted September 19, 2008 You're up for the Hall of Fame in 2009. Do you think about it? This could be a great class, one that rivals the one that just went in with you, Luc Robitaille, Brian Leetch, Brett Hull all eligible. Do you let your mind wander to that? copied it from the first post, not the article... What a horridly stupid question to ask him. I mean what's there for him to think about. It's not like he's coming back to get another cup or boost a few stats... He's done all that will be considered in the HoF. He'll either get in or not (and he will get in).
