With Cheli out, what is the dman situation?

Ok we know Nick, Raf, Kron and Stu are locks. I think Lebda and Lilja are pretty much locks too. Is it just me or does this help Ericsson's cause about possibly being either the 7th or 8th defensemen with the big club because we have to trade a dman either way. With cheli, Ericsson would now become the 8th dman. So from what I have seen it comes down to Meech v. Quincey, who gets traded? What do you guys think??

this means there will not be an 8th d-man... no need for it, they will carry 7, deal away one of Lebda/Meech/Quincy and carry 14 forwards now until Cheli returns, my bet is on Downey and Leino staying with the big club just because of options and them not wanting to lose Leino

furthermore, even Ericsson has said, he would rather play huge minutes in GR than be a reserve on Detroit and that's how the brass wants it too... he has options and will not be up here this year, UNLESS he's dressing, he will not be a reserve. period.

Basically, Chelios' injury just bought everyone some time. Lilja, Lebda, Meech, and Quincey have a few extra weeks to prove themselves (as do Helm, Leino, McCarty, and Downey if they consider going with 14F and 7D to start) and Holland has more time to evaluate everyone and make the best deal possible.
