NHL Center Ice Free Preview

Recommended Posts

I'm just posting to let everybody know that the NHL Center Ice free preview is from October 4th to October 15th according to http://www.indemand.com/sports/nhl/. If you have cable or satellite, you should check to see if you get these channels and during this time they will be free, check your guide or service provider's website for channel listings. I have Charter in Montrose (near Flint and Saginaw) and it is channels 865-878.

You can view the NHL Center Ice shedule here: http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/global/conte...assetId=1100048

I believe this is for television only, the NHL Center Ice online has been rebranded as "NHL Gamecenter Live" and according to this article , http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122212448706965077.html , the free preview for that is October 10th-12th.

Comcast of Montgomery County, Maryland is *NOT* showing the free preview for center ice. Further more, they're not showing it in HD. This blows. I thought about switching to Direct TV but in order for me to get VS, i have to sign up with their premium package.

this blows.

deregulation my ass. :D

Ahh, got it. Thanks.

It would appear that DirecTV is showing Detroit/Buffalo tomorrow, though, so it may be a case-by-case. I have Time Warner here (can't get satellite because of the position of my apartment and the regs. of my landlord) -- and they're not even showing the regular season games in Europe.

Ok, I guess this needs a clarification. NHL Center ICE may or may not include the NHL Network, I believe it depends on how your service provider has it set up. For some people, NHL Network is grouped with the regular Center ICE channels. For others, this channel is separate from Center ICE. If you look on the DirecTV Center ICE schedule linked above, channel 215 is NHL Network exclusively. So basically, if you don't get NHL Network with Center ICE, the free preview starts on the 9th.

Ok, I don't see any NHL Center Ice preview games today.

I do see the Pittsburgh game on NHL Network though. Not sure if that counts since we don't yet have Center Ice and always got NHL Network anyways.

I will watch the Online Center Ice preview next weekend to see if that's what I want, and if satisfied I'll get it with the next paycheck.

Thanks for all the info.

I just ordered center ice, and I got the nhl network with it!!!! Oh, man. I am so jazzed! I have Dish Network. I guess it really does make a difference when you complain about blackouts between networks! This is the best day ever!

Ok so I just talked to a person from NHL Gamcenter, and I swear they live by not knowing s*** about broadcasts, besides the most basic "legal" aspects.

All I cared to know is how many Red Wings games will be broadcasted and I got poo-poo'd off to figure it out by local streams. Uh what? I'm from the SF ******* bay area. Why was the Ottawa/Detroit game blacked out on Gamecenter? I'm not from Detroit nor Ottawa. Also, it seems NHL Network games are also blacked out. So there definitely is some kinks to be worked out in this system.

The free streams so far that DID come in (not the Toronto/Montreal game either), looked pretty decent. They upconverted via VGA to my 1080P HDTV pretty well. Would like to see with maybe a DVI or S-Video connection.

The problem with getting it on cable is when we move out in some 3-6 months we aren't going to get satellite/cable, so it seems I'm stuck with a s***ty Gamecenter with a lot of blacked out games.
