WingsHankFan08 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2008 I'm going to be going up to the Joe for the first time on the season opener. I was looking for directions on this page http://www.letsgowings.com/tickets/joelouisarena.php but it doesn't seem to have current directions, with 75 being closed and all... I'm going to be taking I-75 up from Monroe. Since I won't be able to take Rosa Parks exit, could someone be kind enough to tell me the best way there? Also, I've been told by a few people that I should try to avoid parking at the JLA parking garage, as it can be slow and painful getting out at the end. Is that true? If so, is there any other options close by? (keeping in mind that I'm not familiar with the downtown area)
metalwinger_13 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2008 Well i migth be of some help, as i live pretty much in Monroe and have been up to JLA since they closed 75 heres three options to getting up there that ive used: 1) take 75 up to the Fort Rd. exit in River Rouge and follow that to Rosa Parks - Ive found this to be the fastest, well untill the terrible construction in Rockwood. 2) take 75 again, but getting off at the Southfeild freeway and taking that to 94, where i get off on Michigan Ave. in Dearborn i believe. 3) depending on where your locating in Monroe, go to 23 and take that to 94 and getting off at Michigan Ave. Parking: I would recommend the Cobo roof. Im not sure if its open yet, but its about half the price and not many people park up there. Then you can take either people mover over to the joe for 50 cents or walk. Id recommend taking to the game and just walkign back. This is what i found out that works. Not sure whatever one has to say bout parking. But hope its helpful in some way. GoalieManPat 1,007 Report post Posted October 6, 2008 What part of 75 is closed? I am going to the opening game but rarely get downtown so I did not know of the closures. I usually take 75 south all the way from the Auburn Hills area into the parking garage.
Chelichic 12 Report post Posted October 6, 2008 (edited) For I-75 south I found this... Scheduled construction Between M-3 Gratiot Av (#51B) and I-96 Jeffries Frwy (#48) - ongoing construction blocking the left lane - until December 2009 Scheduled construction Is closed between I-96 Jeffries Frwy (#48) and Clark Av (#47A) due to ongoing construction - The Gateway Project continues through December 2009. DETOUR: take WB I-94 to either SB M-39, SB Telegraph or SB I-275, back to I-75 Ch 4 traffic website Edited October 6, 2008 by Chelichic
Blood On The Ice 15 Report post Posted October 6, 2008 Super easy guys. I 75 is closed just past the Clark St exit. You can go north on I75 and get off at Clark or Livernois which is the exit prior. I usually take the Livernoise because the truck traffic to the bridge takes Clark and sometimes Clark can be backed up. In either case get off at Clark or Livernoise, turn right. 100 feet in front of you will be Fort st. Turn left onto Fort. You will stay on Fort for about a 1 to 1.5 miles. Look for Rosa Parks, turn right onto Rosa Parks. You will then drive straight into the Joe and By the Joe Louis Garage which will be on your left. I however always park on the street, behind or next to the post office, Rosa Parks side, for free. Easy exit after the game. Never had a problem.
