BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP)—Sabres captain Craig Rivet will miss at least two weeks after having arthroscopic knee surgery.

General manager Darcy Regier announced the injury Wednesday, shortly before the Sabres (5-0-1) opened practice to prepare for a two-game road trip that opens at Minnesota on Thursday. Regier did not say which knee Rivet hurt or when the injury happened, and he did not provide details of the surgery.

The veteran defenseman had an assist and logged more than 20 minutes of ice time in a 3-2 shootout win over Boston on Tuesday. Rivet has three assists in six games this season.

Only two weeks. Franzén should visit the same hospital.

(or is it because their injuries are different?)

Arthroscopic surgery is more than likely to repair torn cartilage and clean up the joint.

Torn ACL is a different situation.

Errr, very, very different. Arthroscopic knee surgery just means they made a tiny incision into his knee to put a camera in there to look around at what injury might be there and how they could fix it. It isn't necessarily a surgery that fixes anything. More like a... pre-surgery surgery? Of course you can fix things while you're getting it done. My little sister had to get it done when she was 15 because there was too much calcification or something on one of her knee joints and they were rubbing funny and hurt when she played soccer.
