GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted October 25, 2008 (edited) The stream was blurry, but it's better than watching nothing, so us non-Detroit area fans can be grateful for that. Edited October 25, 2008 by GMRwings1983
Textbook 1 Report post Posted October 25, 2008 My cable box decided to break 2 minutes before the start of the game .. Murphy's law in full effect apparently. So now it's going off my tv tuner in my computer, so there won't be any sound for the rest of the game.

Textbook 1 Report post Posted October 25, 2008 For anybody who is interested in how I do this.. I actually have three different tv tuner / video capture related cards installed in my desktop PC. They're all PCI cards. I have a Pinnacle 800i PCTV HD TV Tuner, a Hauppauge PVR-150, and a K-World Expert DVD Maker PCI. The HD Tuner has coaxial inputs for recording ATSC HD over-the-air, as well as unencrypted digital cable, and analog cable. It also has S-Video and Composite inputs. My Hauppauge can record analog cable, S-Video, and Composite. The K-World can record S-Video and Composite (not a tuner). These cards allow me to record programs to digital files, sort of like a cheap-man's TiVo. With streaming though, it's a little bit different. Justin.tv and ustream.tv were primarily designed to be used with webcams, but can support some tv tuners and video capture cards. Unfortunately, all three of my cards "show up" as a video source, but none of them work, so I have to use a virtual webcam software like Splitcam, Super Webcam, or Webcammax. These three softwares install virtual video drivers that can turn my cards into webcams. Of course, this only solves the video issue, there is still the audio issue. Justin.tv only shows my computer's Line-In as an audio source. So here is how I have it set up. I get cable going into my digital cable set-top-box, which has both coax and composite outputs. I run coax to my standard def tv so I can still watch the game on my tv. The composite video goes into the K-World video capture card. The composite audio go into a 2-rca > 3.5mm adapter from Radioshack, into my computer's Line-In. I then have to run splitcam to make my K-World card a webcam, and now everything is set and I can use justin.tv to stream. So last night when my box decided to stop working, there was no way to get audio. For some stupid reason, it's working fine right now again, so if it continues working I can do the Chicago game tonight as well.
