bellarina 1 Report post Posted October 28, 2008 I just read that Detroit is possibly going to trade a defenceman to Boston. This is from Eklund. Don't shoot the messenger. Here is part of what he wrote. Whoever said "go slowly after major surgery" obviously wasn't an NHL Hockey Blogger... There is a chain reaction rumour that is all the buzz among some of my top sources this morning: The Sens would grab Khabibulin, make room by sending Spezza to Calgary, and the Hawks would sign Forsberg...All by Thanksgiving. The only piece that is definitely missing for all of you capologists is "Who is Calgary going to move to make space?" I am working on that piece, but so far, NADA. I am also working on a trade rumour between Vancouver and Florida (gulp..."what could go wrong there") a Leafs rumour that would bring a player from the Southeast Division that leaves me scratching my head (not Kovy), a Red Wings rumour (yes a RED WINGS RUMOUR) that would move a d-man to Boston, a Rangers rumour that would open up cap space for...oh I don't know, and a Minnesota rumour that would see Gaborik staying put (wait....what?) Opie 308 Report post Posted October 28, 2008 So I went to the globe site and here is my favorite post about this: You can't be serious this guy is usually wrong 98 to 99 per cent of the time. He couldn't tie his shoe laces up without an instruction booklet. Rule#23456-48 take anything that idiot Eklund says with grain of salt, most of the time it isn't true. Some one else suggested PJ Axelsson for Stuart, yeah right!
bellarina 1 Report post Posted October 28, 2008 I don't think the wings are going to make a move unless it is really interesting. They will not trade Lids Kronny Stewie Raffi Lilly Chelli But as for Lebda...if the bruins ante up..
edicius 3,269 Report post Posted October 28, 2008 Not that I'm putting any stock into what Eklund says...but it would HAVE to be Lebda if the Wings are moving a defenseman. Lilja may have been "touchable" before the season started (even as a sign-and-trade), but the way he's played thus far...no way. If we're moving a defenseman, it's Lebda. No question. But that's assuming that Eklund is right, which is doubtful.

Dominator2005 558 Report post Posted October 29, 2008 I don't think it will be Lilja - forget about sign and trade this is NHL and not NBA. This is respected organisation. Lebda SHOULD be traded.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted October 29, 2008 It'd have to be Lebda, Kenny isnt going to trade anyone else. BTW, Eklund is a ******* dumb s***. The sens will grab Khabibulin, by shipping Spezza to Calgary and signing Forsberg? HAHAHAHAHA

But that's assuming that Eklund is right, which is doubtful. The possibility of trading a D-man, like Lebda, makes sense if Cheli is ready to come off of the IR only if we are getting a draft pick back in return. If the wings were to trade Lebda for a late round draft pick (which would be a steal), you could activate Cheli and put him on a pairing with Lilja, giving us another much needed right handed D-man. They also have similar salaries. I am no capologist, but this may even provide the cap space to bring Leino up without having to send McCarty to GR(even though that is where he probably belongs). The Mule 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2008 Please ship Lebda to anyone that will take him off our hands.
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted October 30, 2008 It may be Eklund but it does make sense Meech is just as good if not better than Lebda and makes 150k less. Lebda off the books is cap relief and the team takes no hit. And Boston adds mobility to the back end in exchange for a mid-late pick.
GoWings1905 2,694 Report post Posted October 31, 2008 Any team that will take Lebda is a great deal.
Guest EZBAKETHAGANGSTA Report post Posted October 31, 2008 Any team that will take Lebda is a great deal. And then after we trade him for a 9th, or even future considerations we should have enough to call up helm, getting one of the terrible 2 ( Maltby, Mccarty). off the ice
