MonkeyGoalie 14 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 I was wondering if anyone saw the fight that involved Jared Boll of the Blue Jackets near the end of the Avs vs. Blue Jackets game on Oct 30, where he got the penalty for instigating? What was the reason for the start of the fight? How was it compared to the fight that Brandon Marrow started during the Kings vs. Stars game this past Tuesday? What was the reason for the start of the fight? How was it compared to the fight that Brandon Marrow started during the Kings vs. Stars game this past Tuesday? I don't think I saw the Boll fight but the NHL made a special exception for the Morrow fight because it was in retaliation to the Brown 5 minute major for boarding... I was very surprising when I heard they made this exception, but so happy! Great job by the NHL... instigated fights like THAT are perfect for the game
MonkeyGoalie 14 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 Just trying to get an understanding why Boll still got suspended and Marrow didn't. I figure it's because Marrow is a veteran and Boll is in his second year in the NHL.
OsGOD 3 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 Boll is effing awesome! Nicest guy off the ice... pain in the ass on the ice... wish we would draft from Team Karmonos sometimes!
CopenhagenWing 38 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 Columbus was leading that game 4-1 with less than 3 minutes to play when Boll got into that fight while Dallas was tied with the Kings when Morrow went after Brown. What the league is trying to prevent with the automatic suspension rule is the "We got killed on the scoreboard tonight so we're going to goon it up" type endings to games. And while Columbus won the Colorado game, Boll chose a wrong moment to "send a message."
GMRwings1983 8,804 Report post Posted November 14, 2008 Stupid rule by a stupid league. If Bettman doesn't like having fights in hockey, why doesn't he just go back to working for the NBA? Nothing wrong with gooning it up at the end of games. It has existed before in hockey, and should exist again. This way the fans stay until the end of the game, even in a blowout.
