NC WINGS FAN 5 Report post Posted December 11, 2008 One thing you must consider is that finishing with the best record in the NHL rarely leads to the Stanely Cup. Since the dawn of the Presidents Trophy, only 7 teams who have finished with the league's best record have won it all. The are as follows 1987 Edmonton Oilers 1989 Calgary Flames 1994 New York Rangers 1999 Dallas Stars 2001 Colorado Avalanche 2002 Detroit Redwings 2008 Detroit Redwings As you can see, it is not like the NBA where the best team in the regular season typically wins it all. In 1997, the Redwings finished the regular season with an unimpressive mark of 38 wins, 26 losses, and 18 ties and managed to win the cup after knocking the league's best team, the Colorado Avalanche out of the conference finals, going on to beat the more impressive and heavily favored Philadelphia Flyers. The NHL's second best team, the Dallas Stars lost in the first round to the Edmonton Oilers. The year before, the Wings finished with a NHL record of 62-13-7 and where did that get them? You all see where I am going with this?
NC WINGS FAN 5 Report post Posted December 11, 2008 Redwings sore 2 in 3rd and win it in OT, typical Wings fashion!!!! If anything, you must give them credit for their reliance this year. That goes a looooooong way in the playoffs. We Redwings fans should know that better than anybody.

soultrain 43 Report post Posted December 11, 2008 If you watch San Jose, they are going hard every shift, finishing checks and doing what it takes to dominate. the sharks are hungry and much bigger than the wings. if the wings continue to fall asleep on the defense they will lose come playoff time...maybe even before the sharks get a chance to rip them. a bunch of RETARDS say our goalie is the problem. the problem is defense. ozzy should never have to be the best goalie around. our d-core SHOULD be the best. the sharks are lucky they have such a dope goalie, to go along with the dope d-men they snagged this year, to go along with the best line (STATS) in the game. question is HOW will anyone beat the sharks in the playoffs....do we pray for injuries? soultrain 43 Report post Posted December 11, 2008 (edited) You watch too much of San Jose... The play-off is where you are going to see thta "angry" Red Wings team. i watch every san jose game. "angry sharks" that are bigger than the wings, with an enforcer (jody shelly) is what your gonna see come playoffs. i have read dumb ass "experts" predicting a stanley cup victory by the sharks for years. this is the only year i can say that they are truly ready..and they are just as good as the hype around them. open your eyes and watch them skate circles around teams. they are playing like the wings, last season. no bulls***. look at the shots on goal even when they lose.
