A couple of things I've noticed about this year's team.

1. It didn't take them two months to win a home game.

2. The Griffins are competitive this year.

3. Daniel Larsson has clearly been the better goalie.

4. Curt Fraser's doing something right because the forwards are driving the net.

5. Leino hasn't been the same the past couple of times I've seen him. He looks hesitant and doesn't go to the net.

On a side note: The first game Chelios played in Grand Rapids he wasn't skating to good. I mean it. Griff skated TWICE as good as Cheli. He nearly face planted himself twice; once at the Marlies blueline and again coming out of the locker room for the 3rd period.

Also, I was wondering; who do you guys think has been the biggest surprise (good and bad) this year for the Griffs.

I saw Chelios fall once, almost several other times. He even had trouble just getting over the boards. Hopefully the week of practice will make more prepared for Saturday's game against the 'Yotes(These are by far my favorite games of the year ).

I think my surprise for the good is Larsson. He came over, and is beating Howard. I didn't expect that. Runner up would be McGrath. He is doing really well with his playing time.

My disappointment is Haydar. He was brought in as a "big gun" this year, and hasn't done that IMO. He isn't scoring like expected, he just isn't doing much to me. Runner up in this one is Ericsson. He shouldn't be playing as bad as he is.

on larssons play...... after watching the wings goalies and his development, i wouldn´t be surprised if he would compete for the starting job in the big league next fall instead of howard. he is what the wings lack, a goalie who can steal games and beside of this he is a swede ..... ;)

biggest surprise so far.....hmmmm.....i would say emmerton....i knew that he is a good player and i like him, but after his last season in the juniors (with his illness and beeing traded), i thought it would take him longer to start beeing effective as a pro. pleasant surprise.

btw,as it appears you are closer into the griffs than me, can you enlighten me whats going on with ericsson? i noticed the he was out of the lineup for 2 games in the past few weeks. but no word about it in the media. was he injured or was he a healthy scratch?

He is out with a sore shoulder. He got injured in the game last friday, left midway through the third and has been out since.
