Memnoch 0 Report post Posted December 27, 2008 I am working in NYC for the next few months and was wondering if anybody knew where to catch all the Wings games other than ESPN Zone. Preferably downtown or midtown, but I guess I can travel anywhere in Manhattan to watch them. Thanks!
SouthernWingsFan 854 Report post Posted December 27, 2008 I've only been to NYC twice in my life so I'm definitely far from an expert, but both times were during fall/late winter so it was during hockey season, and both times when I was there the Wings were playing. Both times I tried watching the games at ESPN Zone. One time they put the Wings game on a little ways in the game after another game concluded I think, without any special requests or anything like that. The second trip and second time I tried and requested it was a no go, due largely to a big crowd there and just so much on TV that night, so I wasn't going to bother pushing harder to put the game on. That place is an option and you might luck out sometimes, perhaps go to the NHL Store there and ask them, see if there are any good spots to watch games or that has NHL Center Ice packages that might be less crowded than ESPN Zone. JPT 26 Report post Posted December 27, 2008 Thats a tough one...I live in NYC and have the Center Ice Package - its really the only option. I don't know of any bars that have the package but I will think of some good sports bars and maybe you can give them a call and see if they ordered the package. mwinnyatslc 0 Report post Posted December 27, 2008 lived in NYC for 10 years now and I can say that there is no where good to go for RW games. However, I have heard, but never been to, a "Michigan bar" that shows all sorts of michigan sports (like the Iowa bar on the UWS). I'll try to find out the name of it for you. I gave up and got Center Ice when it came out, but obviously that wouldn't make sense for you.
Memnoch 0 Report post Posted December 28, 2008 Thanks for the help, was pretty much the responses that I was expecting =) I live in Chicago normally and have center ice there. I bought a slingbox last month so I could watch the games on my laptop from here in NY, but since they are playing the Av's tonight wanted to watch it on a big screen. Plus I'll be doing 'dial a shot' with my buddies back in Colorado after we (hopefully) smack the crap out of them tonight =)
