Drake_Marcus 890 Report post Posted January 8, 2009 Nik is a very sneaky man. He lets the other high end d-men think they've got a chance... then WAMM smacks them in the face with his awe-inspiring talent in the second half of the season. Naw, I think it just took some time for him to adjust to the visor and the new skates, gloves and stick. Seems minor, but that kind of stuff does throw your game just a bit. I think his age is also a factor. Most elderly players start up the season a bit slow and then gets better and better.

It does throw your game off, even if you are elite. That, and the fact that he's always been a slow starter, and the whole team was in a funk. It seems they've got that monkey off their back, though, and are back in form. Same goes for Ozzie, he's only played the one game since the Winter Classic, but he was great, and he cited equipment changes and injuries as well for throwing his game off before. Come to think of it, Datsyuk was using a different stick when he was struggling in the first part of the season. Guess that'll teach the WIngs never to change equipment again. The Secret 304 Report post Posted January 8, 2009 Cool article thanks for the post. Funny thing is even when Lidstrom isn't playing his best he is still better then 90% of the D-men in the league. Man have we been spoiled with great players to watch over the years!
up2here 41 Report post Posted January 8, 2009 No mention of the visor which I am nearly positive has had something to do with the slow start.
