The Montreal Canadiens are overrated

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

I saw the ASG lineup, and from all the talk abuot the Canadiens I thought they were doing amazing, then I go look at the standings and they're 4th or 5th in their Conference? That's worse than they were last year. A step back is an improvement how? They have some talent, and could be a dangerous team, but this particular regular season, I just don't see what's so amazing about them.

They're having their 100th anniversary. After this year is over, this will be the only decade since they formed that they won't win the Stanley Cup.

As a team, they're rather a B team, where the Sharks, Bruins and Wings are A teams.

The whole Eastern Conference in general is overrated. My high school team would have an amazing record too if they played 4 games against Atlanta, Florida, Tampa, Carolina, and the Islanders each (20games = 40 points)

If Montreal played in the West more often I doubt they would look as good.

That goes for most Eastern Conference teams. The travel alone would have them crying for mommy by November.

Brian Hayward was saying that when Philly came into Anaheim a little while ago the entire team was crying and complaining about how they had 4 road games on the west coast in 7 days. Boo F**KING Hoo!

Last year New Jersey had a total of SIX games where they couldn't sleep in their own beds after the game. Can you imagine how good teams like San Jose or Detroit would be if they had that much rest at home?

And in part, that's why the West is so dominant over the East the last few years. We're tougher because we have tougher conditions.

The only chance an Eastern team has at winning the Cup is if the Western champ is so beaten up from a much tougher and deeper conference and is tired from all the travel. That's the only way a team like SJ, Detroit, Anaheim or any of the other 5 teams that make the playoffs could be beat by any team in the East.

Boston's good, but after that, I'll take any Western playoff team against their best squads.

First off I f'ing hate the Habs almost as much as I hate the Leafs. I've been living in Montreal for almost 2 years now and I hear day in and day out how the Wings suck and the Habs are the greatest team off all time. Oh, and because it's their 100 year anniversary they apparently will win the Cup...It's been arranged. Hahahaha, there are those here who believe that.

Anyway, I think they have a decent team and thats about it, there are some strong points about their team but definately 2 things I call into question is their desire and their consistency. It's been pointed out that they are only as good as their PP. My feeling is that they don't have enough to go all the way, there are way better teams out there.

Who the hell riots after barely winning the first round of the playoffs... retarded Habs fans, thats who. Man, I would LOVE to see The Wings crush the Habs in the SCF, that would be a dream come true for me... did I mention that I Hate the Habs!

GO WINGS!

im in ottawa and i hear about the habs non stop because its the closest nhl team  so i argue with people all day about how they have absolutely no chance in hell of winning the cup and this celebration is going to last another year so im losing it entirely. they have like 11 FAs next year so good luck montreal.

Aside from the Wings management who have proven the ability to achieve success, I think the Habs have the best management in the league.

Bob Gainey and Guy Carbonneau have built an excellent team and are preaching a tight, disciplined system. Once their young team can begin to execute like vets, they'll be a real contender.

Last year they were a little overrated, not this year though.

i couldnt help myself, jan.14 i opened this thread and obviously i didnt foresee the total collapse but i could tell they just didnt have what it takes. and dont blame the injuries because even with all those guys they wouldnt have gone much further.

they have just been unlucky i think. in any other hockey town they would have kept huet and let price grow in the minors because huet was a proven formula. they were trying to find the next patrick roy which was too much pressure on a young guy. also huet was french so i dont understand why montreal of all places would get rid of him... now hes rotting on the bench in chicago where a worse goalie khabibulen is ahead of him. alex kovalev also had a bad year and their best players were injured most of the time
