LivoniaGrinder 37 Report post Posted January 18, 2009 Has anyone heard anything other than lower body injury for Mule yet? Man, I hope he's okay. I'm going to the game on Tuesday, I was looking forward to seeing him out there.
Guest mindfly Report post Posted January 18, 2009 (edited) Tightness in his Thigh, shouldn't be too serious, he will be checked again on monday.. but then again another source says its a strained hip Edited January 18, 2009 by mindfly
96warrior 11 Report post Posted January 18, 2009 From MLIVE: Strained hip idles Red Wings' Johan Franzen by Ansar Khan Sunday January 18, 2009, 2:45 AM Wings forward Johan Franzen said a strained hip forced him to leave Saturday's game in San Jose after a brief shift early in the third period. He said he's not sure how it happened, but that it wasn't from a hit. And he doesn't know if he'll be able to skate at the next practice, Monday in Phoenix. "It's a little bit from this morning. By the end of the second (period) I couldn't put any pressure on the legs,'' Franzen said. He said he's never experienced this before

under_par_00 45 Report post Posted January 18, 2009 He sure seems injured more often than most guys. Are we really going to give him a 5m/year contract?

Donaldjr2448 43 Report post Posted January 18, 2009 Well, this injury doesn't seem good at all. As for signing the Mule to a 5 year deal coming up, Injuries happen in this league, and in sports. If your worried about injuries when you a GM then would you ever sign anyone?? Unless is Uwe Krupp, then I think The Mule will be just fine to resign! TheOwl 77 Report post Posted January 18, 2009 No he should get what filppula makes, around 3.5M$ I think. He should? He should and deserves 5 million, for someone on pace for 40 goals, second behind Hossa. He's a much better and more valuable then Flipulla who makes way too much. LivoniaGrinder 37 Report post Posted January 18, 2009 Cool, thanks for the updates guys. Hopefully it's nothing serious and he'll be in there crowding Bryzgolov. Now where can I find an octopus in Phoenix?
GoWings1905 2,694 Report post Posted January 19, 2009 (edited) No he should get what filppula makes, around 3.5M$ I think. Are you kidding? Filppula is arguably overpaid and you want to give Franzen the same contract? Franzen is a far better goal scorer, finisher, has better hands, and is very comparable defensively to Filppula. How are the two even similar in terms of performance? Edited January 19, 2009 by GoWings1905
WingNut 25 5 Report post Posted January 19, 2009 If he has to sit out against Phoenix to rest, I think there are worse things in the world.
TheOwl 77 Report post Posted January 19, 2009 (edited) Franzen's all-round game isn't worth 5million, never. Uhhh, 11th in goals this season? 13 goals, and 5 assists in 16 games last years playoffs? 2nd in goals this year for the Wings. And how has Franzen peaked? He just started getting good 8 months ago. He peaked and dropped off into mediocrity in 8 months? Maybe the fact he's scored more goals in that time frame then any other Wing? You guys are freaking crazy. Have you even seen some of the insane goals he's scored? Flipulla isn't a quarter of the player Franzen currently is. Not to mention he fits in perfectly with the team, and is physical. Anyone who would take Flipulla over Franzen is an idiot. Holland would be crazy not to keep Franzen if he would sign for 4-5 million. Flipulla is dead weight, give his salary to someone who isn't insanely under performing for his entire career. Edited January 19, 2009 by TheOwl

Franzen is a far better goal scorer, finisher, has better hands, and is very comparable defensively to Filppula. How are the two even similar in terms of performance? Filppula is underrated and can score. His style of hockey that he played in Finland was "look for the open man". Every time Filppula has the puck coming into the zone what does he do? Stop and look for an open man driving to the net. Filppula plays on the penalty kill and sadly doesn't get power play time. Filppula's depth and potential is great and I'm glad we re-signed him. Then again I'm quoting a guy who has a Dan Cleary sig. Edited January 19, 2009 by Winged_Wheeler
hokike 1 Report post Posted January 19, 2009 Franzen contract's numbers have nothing to with Flippula. Those who wish to keep/get players cheaply are wishful thinkers. players don't have to sign here cheaply and if they decide that they'll get something better from other teams, it does not mean they are "greedy" or "do not value loyalty" or just "******* to whom money is over cup" or whatever label they would get from full of themselves LGW idiots. Zetterbeard40 0 Report post Posted January 19, 2009 Fillpula is the most overpaid Red Wings. Ive been to all but 3 home games this year and all he does is skate into the zone and either give the puck away or get taken off the puck. He just might be the weakest Red Wings we have on the puck. He can't finish, or get into the middle of the ice. As much as I love Holland, this might be one of his worst signings. Franzen is 5x's the player Filppula is. He's bigger, stronger on the puck, better in the corners, and obviously has way more scoring touch than Filppula. It's not that I dont like Filpps, I just dont think he's worth 3 million/year. Idf we had to lose him or use him as trade bait or a way to open up cap space for guys like Helm, Eriksson or Leino, then I would be all for it.

Zetterbeard40 0 Report post Posted January 19, 2009 We have 4 seats in section 217B. Most games are accounted for, but Ive also gotten tickets for some games I didnt have right at the Box office. I dont know how old you are, but if you're a student and dont mind sitting by yourself its a great deal. On gamedays you can go to the box office and get 48 dollar tickets for 15 dollars. Cant beat it really. The box office guy didnt even check my student card and also mentioned that the sale will be going on until they start to sell out games. They also have the family packs, which are 2 tickets for 44 dollars. This deal includes a pop and hot dog for each ticket bought. If those dont help, just give the box office a call on gamedays, and ask if they have the 25 dollar tickets. The thing is, most people dont know but the wings arent officially selling out anygames, so you could pretty much walk up to the box office at 7pm and get a ticket.
