Should we start rooting for Florida to tank?

A starting goalie?

Wasn't a deadline deal, but there was Patty Roy in '96.

It was in early December. I was talking more about a deal at the deadline in which a goalie doesn't have much time to get cohesive with the team.

Huet was one of Washington's best players in the playoffs last year. The fact that they didn't do anything had everything to do with their lack of depth all over the ice.

Roloson was traded to the Oilers on the 8th of March. Whats your opinion of his cup run with Calgary?

I'm not saying Anderson is some mystery ingredient or that he'd even be the starter for the Wings in the playoffs - I think we all know Osgood is going to be starting that first game no matter how much logic dictates otherwise - but Conklin is a career back-up. Anderson, at worst, is no better than Conklin. At best, hes a late bloomer that could turn out to be the next Dan Ellis and steal a couple playoff games for us. Low risk, high reward.

So because no one has picked one up and gone on to win the cup means the Wings shouldn't improve on their goaltending? The Wings goaltending has never gone along with what "history tells us" in general. When was the last time a team held the 3rd seed overall, yet had the worst starter in the league?

Last year with Kolzig and Washington. Granted they only got 3rd because of their division. But it's the 3rd seed none the less. They went out and got Huet, and still lost in the first round.

Not sure about the whole trade idea, but the Wings suits need to decide what to with Howard. Either give him a chance or trade him, cause I really dont want to lose him off waivers.

He is out of options next year right?

He did good until the finals where he got hurt and Conklin came in and almost won them the cup.

How incredibly ridiculous. Yes, lets go and get Craig Anderson, a goalie who does not even know what the Stanley Cup Playoffs are. Lets go get this 'solid' goalie that has won 30 games and still is not a credible starter in the NHL. That is exactly what we need. Are you at all aware that this is essentially a carbon copy of last year's team? The Wings will come around and tighten up defensively and that will solve the issues. Ozzie will hit his stride when his defense plays the way they should be playing...But seriously, Craig Anderson? Preposterous.

Conklin played exactly six minutes, his only career playoff experience. He promptly wilted under the pressure and flushed away Game 1 of the Finals. Benched, and Markkanen came in and played well. So much for our "experienced/veteran backup", huh?

Thats YOUR inference, not what I'm saying. Tell me, kind sir, how many options does Detroit have to improve this team? We have goaltending issues, defense issues, and a shoddy 4th line. We can't improve them all, and we sure as hell aren't going to be making big moves like trading off Stuart or Kronwall. We have to make nominal improvements where we can.

If I REALLY thought the goaltending was the be all and end all, I'd be proposing we trade for Backstrom, not Anderson.

They dont.

They dont have any choices. Really tho, if people think Holland is going to make a move that will impact the team is fooling themselves. This is the team we will be seeing in the playoffs. Probably the best team in the league on paper, but we will see if they have the heart and motivation once the playoffs arrive.
