From: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/hockey/nhl/...-fighting_N.htm Interesting read for the most part. I thought the most interesting comments include: More people fight since there are less 'tough guys' that only fight. Salary cap makes more teams competetive = more fights. I like fighting in the NHL, and it would be a shame if they ever REALLY tried to ban it. It shows the players passion for the game/for their team IMO. What do you guys think? ManLuv4Clears 7 Report post Posted February 10, 2009 Interesting stats, I'm happy to say I don't think fighting is going anywhere, especially after Mr. Kelly's comments on Versus last night.
mjlegend 155 Report post Posted February 10, 2009 Fighting in the 2000s is less about policework or spirited anger and more about game strategy. Three-quarters of the fights I've seen in non-Red Wing games have been grab and hold snooze-fests between a pair of 240-pounders. Georges Laraque, I'm looking at you. Because you cant police the ice like you used to be in the old nhl.. and and yah alot of fights this year are snoozers.. Alot of fighters dont want to go toe-2-toe. which sucks, but oh well..
