Jon started playing this weekend again in the Griffins' 3-in-3 (@ Syracuse on Friday, @ Cleveland on Saturday, and @ Toronto this afternoon). What a welcome back!

He's estimated at 85% healthy...but with all the other Griffins' injuries right now, he's playing.

Friday: zero points, was 0 +/-, and two penalty minutes;

Saturday: zero points, was +2, and two penalty minutes;

Sunday (after 1st period): zero points, 0 +/-, and zero penalty minutes so far.

I dont get a chance to watch the griffins play. How has he looked so far the last few games or any of those games you've been able to watch? I cant wait for him to make the team and stay on it, we need his physical presence.

I had the pleasure to see yesterdays game against the Toronto Marlies at Ricoh Coliseum and the result:

GRIFFINS WON 5-4!!!

Ericsson looked really good out there IMHO. Dude is a giant! Even added a helper in the win and finished +2 on the night. Great game all around by the Griffins expect for a streak of bad penalties that allowed 3 straight PP goals that got the Marlies back in it. Larrson came up huge near the end when a scramble in front of the net almost resulted in a Marlies goal.

I waited near the Griffins exit after they announced the 3 Stars (1. Ryan Oulahen, 2. Anton Stralman, 3. Garrett Stafford) and asked Stafford for a stick. He told me it was his last one. Guess the economic pinch is hitting everyone. :rolleyes:

The local TV station interviewed Oulahen and I got a fist pound from him when it was done. Good guy.

Oh, I hate to report this as well, but Jimmy Howard wasn't dressed yesterday either. John Ceci was dressed as Larsson's backup. Hopefully Jimmy is making a full recovery!

GO GRIFFINS!!!

How is Larsson doing? Haven't really been following up on the guy after he left Sweden but he was doing great back then. I hope he's developing well...

Larsson looked good in net. That guy can get across the crease just as fast as anyone I've seen and his speed/reaction time is what stopped the Marlies from tying the game late in the third. Certainly not the biggest guy, but overall I liked watching him play goal. The score really wasn't a great indication of his play due to the fact that 3 of the 4 goals came on Toronto PP's and the Marlies did a good job of getting guys in front of him.

Sounds promising at the very least.

Sounds promising at the very least.

I've seen 15-18 Griffins home games so far this season. We usually go to 20-25 total. Larsson is very promising. He started off strong, hit a bit of a rough patch lately - but that could be at least partially attributable to all of the callups/injuries. Since December, the D has been hit by the injury bug - Jon Ericsson's been out many games, Garrett Stafford sat out for a good part of December/January and now Tom Galvin (GR only) is out for at least a month. From what I've seen so far, Larsson has more long term potential than Jimmy in my opinion.

Jon Ericsson is having a fair season. He's only played in 40 out of the 62 or so games so far this year due to injury - and he's played through his injuries in several of the 40. Therefore, my "fair" rating doesn't really tell all of the story. If/when he gets back to the form he's been in the past two years, there should be no problem for him stepping into a top 6 D position next Fall in Detroit, given the opportunity.
