Guest Shoreline Report post Posted March 31, 2009 (edited) I'm still counting the Blues as the odd man out, even though they sit in 8th place. On the other hand, if they manage to do it, there isn't anyone in the world who could suggest they sure as hell didn't earn it. Duck Guy 86 Report post Posted March 31, 2009 A Det and NJ final would be awesome...
Guest Shoreline Report post Posted March 31, 2009 And if there's a final, as much as I'd love to see the Wings beat the Devils, I have a feeling it's going to be Detroit/San Jose vs. Boston. The B's just look like they've jelled as a team, but we'll see how well they hold up to the playoff test.

As much as I'd like some revenge after what happened in the '95 Cup Finals, I could live with an Original Six match-up.
Superman54 91 Report post Posted March 31, 2009 (edited) I can only hope we avoid both Nashville or Columbus in the first round. Playing either the Blues or Oilers would by my preference. Edit: Screw that, I want the Ducks. Edited March 31, 2009 by Superman54
TheSupafly 50 Report post Posted March 31, 2009 Ducks will get 8th seed and upset who ever is the 1st seed Blues will make playoffs Preds wont Oiler will wild will stars will miss playoffs The Wild aren't making the playoffs. Too many other teams playing well right now that they'd have to leapfrog. They're toast. Jackets will be in. Stars are done. Blues I think may just squeak in over Edmonton. Preds also hang on to get in....they've been hot...points in 9 of their last 10. 1. San Jose 2. Detroit 3. Vancouver 4. Chicago 5. Calgary 6. Columbus 7. Nashville 8. St Louis 1st round SJ > StL in 7 Blues are hot and Mason is the real deal, but in the end home ice comes through. Det > Nsh in 5 Nashville has played the wings tough in the past, but the Wings have had the better of it this year and will continue to do so. Col > Van in 6 Jackets ride the momentum of their first ever playoff appearance into a shocker in the 1st round where the Nucks can't get any production out of anyone that doesn't have a last name that starts with S and ends with N. Chi > Cgy in 6 Finally back and bolstered by young fresh legs and incredible talent Chicago doesn't let Calgary muck up the neutral zone and force them to skate with the Hawks...which they can't do. Two completely opposite styles where you would think that the one closer to playoff hockey would prevail. I've learned that when it seems so obvious, it never is. 2nd round SJ > Col The Blue Jackets best season in history stops in the 2nd round. Sharks finally get healthy and are too big, fast, and skilled. Nash still has a big series and further cements himself as an NHL star. Det > Chicago Another interdivisional matchup. Another Detroit win. Chicago will have their time...it's just not now. Good experience for Toews, Kane, Sharp, and crew. 3rd round I hope we get to see the Sharks and Wings at full strength battle it out for the right to play for the Cup. I'm not predicting this one....I just pray I get to see it.
zaxx 0 Report post Posted March 31, 2009 Anyone who says that the Blues will not make the playoffs is out to lunch! I read a blog entry on Kuklas Korner the other day that listed the Blues with the second best record in the second half of the NHL. The only team with a better record during that stretch was our Red Wings. I would not want to play a team that is that hot, and that confident in the first round because whoever they come up against will likely lose. At the very least it will go 7 games. Edmonton First Round Edmonton > San Jose Detroit > Nashville Columbus > Calgary Vancouver > Chicago Conference Semi-Finals Detroit > Edmonton Vancouver > Columbus Conference Final Detroit > Vancouver Cup Final Detroit > New Jersey Watch it be completely wrong. All sounds good to me, until you get to the conference final. However, the third and fourth seed may also be wrong. Canucks are one point behind Calgary with a game in hand. Canucks have been extremely hot. Flames have been extremely cold. Edited March 31, 2009 by One of the Few

Slave 31 Report post Posted March 31, 2009 sharks vs wings.. assuming both teams are still healthy, i take wings in 5. not trying to be a smart ass i just honestly believe that when the wings get to 3rd round they will be firing on all cylinders and i can not see any team, that includes the league leading sharks, keeping up with the wings

IF, and thats a big IF The wings are firing on all cylinders, even the mighty Sharks will not be able to beat them, they are just too skilled, and too deep. You can't be serious. The Sharks locker room is more like a hospital at this point. I think you mean if both teams are healthy, because the Sharks certainly are far from it. I think you mean if both teams are healthy, because the Sharks certainly are far from it. Were getting better, Clowe and Mitchell are skating with the team again. A little worried about Patty not skating yet, and curious when we will see Huskins. Assuming Patty and Clowe get back on the ice soon, we are in good shape. If Mitchell, Huskins, & Grier get healthy and are on the ice by playoffs we have some good but difficult decisions to make who plays, who sits. I have a feeling the lineup is going to look very different then we have seen all season come April 12th.
