The "I Support Dan Cleary and Brad Stuart" Thread

Dan Cleary like him or not is the hardest working Red Wing night in and night out. He may not fill the net but it won't be for lack of trying and that to me is worth keeping him.

Brad Stuart is not having a great season but those who do not have blinders on will see that his partner Nick Kronwall has been out right Bad on defense this season. Sure he has some points but he no longer hits and is not much more then a pylon in our zone. And lets not forget how many stupid penalties he has taken this year because he was caught out of position. I hope that all three can have playoffs like last year.

Dan Cleary and Brad Stuart both have a NTC and it is highly unlikely that Holland will ask them to remove them. Holland has too much class to do that.

I don't hate Cleary, but he doesn't fit in with the Red Wings system.

Agreed. The Wings could never win a cup with a guy like that on their team.

Thats a stupid response, unless you were trying to be an *******. No one was insinuating that the Wings can't win with him. No guy has that much of an effect on a team. But would it be a stretch to say that the Wings could win a cup without Cleary? Probably not.

I don't mind Cleary, but hes expendable with Helm and Leino as options.

The hell? Trying?! I thought I didn't even need to try to be an *******. Am I getting soft now or what?

And I'd disagree about him being expendable. He takes his lickings, sometimes a bit like a blockhead at times, but as mentioned what he brings to the team the others cannot. But that really isn't my call to make.

I completely disagree about Flip's "key-ness" to the team. With ZDH together, as they should be, there is no one to center the second line. Franzen needs to play wing. Hudler is a poor center for the second line. That leaves Flip.

With ZDH together, assuming we sign Hossa, the second line should be Franzen/Hudler/Hossa. Our second-best playmaking forward with two of our three best goal scorers; tell me how Hudler is a poor choice to center Franzen and Hossa?

Hudler is too small and can't take a hit. Filppula would be a much better choice, in my opinion. With his incredible passing, stick handling, size, and skating, there's nothing that beats that.

From what I recall, Cleary is the only player who chases the puck into the corner and fights for it. Other guys either don't or get thrown off the puck rather quickly. Cleary is a nice fit for our 3rd line and is capable of moving up to cause some havoc in front of the goalie.

Have you seen one Pavel Datsyuk go into the corners, Johan Franzen?

Cleary is not the only Wing to do so. However I do agree he is a great fit for the third line.

I'd just like to say..

Everyone who was asking for Danny and brad to be on the chopping block.. Suck a fat one.. ya'll suck.

I just do not understand this.

Cleary and Stuart SUCKED at that time.

Cleary and Stuart do not suck NOW.

So..

Why should people that bashed these two guys when they sucked be sorry for that? Just because Stuart and Cleary are great NOW?

Yeah, sure.

That's the equivalent of just ******* off at work all day for 8 months (not pulling your weight, etc) then showing up and doing a month of fantastic work and telling your boss and co-workers they were idiots for questioning your work.

Sure you pulled it together and did great when it counted, but that doesn't mean people are idiots for questioning your work back when you were doing s***-all.

So, in summary:

OP-- thanks for dragging a thread up from April 14 and telling us you were right. That's 5 minutes of my life I can't get back. <_<

Babcok must have read this thread, good thing he took your advice and not Eva's.

Stuart made several good plays last night, but he did not handle Teemu Selanne well on tha latter's scoring play. He followed Selanne instead of defending the edge of the goal, and allowed him to stick the puck twice for a cheap goal.
