SoDakWing 8 Report post Posted April 24, 2009 In years past I thought Grier ought to be captain, but even he's been a bit quiet this playoff. Maybe Clowe? A captain doesn't have to be a superstar. Either way, I don't think the Sharks can have Marleau and Thorton wearing a C and an A for another year--Marleau certainly can't be captain, and at least one of them should be moved to shake up the roster. But the team won the President's Trophy--it's absurd that some people are talking about a teardown. I think the Sharks naming Grier the new captain would be a step in the right direction. Almost everytime I watch a Sharks game he is generally giving 100% and never giving up. Only time will tell what happens though. I just hope the Sharks can take it to seven games and beat up on the Ducks some more.
softshoes 83 Report post Posted April 24, 2009 You know, Yzerman went through a long lean stretch before they won. But you could never doubt his commitment and passion. His leadership on the ice was part of what finally got the wings to turn the corner and get the first cup. The sharks are talented, but they play with no heart and no passion. Isn't it ironic that Marleau and Thorton are both Canadien. Put that it in your pipe and smoke it Don Cherry. couldn't agree more. about the only thing Thorton and Yzerman have in common is the number 19.

Yak19 303 Report post Posted April 24, 2009 (edited) Marty! Marty! See what happens when you piss him off, WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Haven't posted in a while, my bad...see you guys in the Finals! And yes we have our hands full with Carolina right now, but you guys will experience the same against Anaheim. All that matters is winning the series! Devils are looking good but it will go 7. Devils will take it, if you see Criesby next round please do everyone a favor and take that team out so we don't have to look at the extended coverage of every pitts game. Crosby on the toilet with reporters all around him. CINDY CINDY HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE TAKING A DOOKIE DURING THE FIRST INTERMISSION? I feel bad for the Sharks fans right now, that team really misled them. After all of Thorton's post season failures you'd think he has enough experience to get over that and play his game smh. I hope guys like Marleau, Cheechoo, Boyle, Pavelski, Michalek and Blake can come through and make it a series. Edited April 24, 2009 by Yak19
RockyMountainWingGal 108 Report post Posted April 24, 2009 If I were a shark fan I would probably demand that Todd rip that C off of Thornton's jersey. That guy plays like a sidekick at best when it counts the most. They really need someone to set a new example. Total embarrassment for a C. Even when the Wings lost tough games & series when Stevie was the C, he left everything he had on the ice (teeth, eyes, & knees sometimes). How does your team leader have 0 shots and a -3 in a crucial PO game? If that was the example my team leader set, I wouldn't play hard either. If I was him, I'd voluntarily give up the C - and give back part of my salary. It's one thing to lose, it's another thing to not even try, and not even care. Sorry for Shark's fans this guy is your leader.....
RockyMountainWingGal 108 Report post Posted April 24, 2009 What the sharks lack is a true leader. Someone like Iginla. That type of player that the team will rally behind. That truly leads by example. That is a captain. Skill AND heart AND desire. I just don't see it in my team right now and that's terribly painful to type. I don't like Blake because he is a former Av - but he would have made a far better captain than JT or PM. Hard to do since he just signed this year, but those other guys either have to go period, or have their leadership taken from them (they did it in Dallas to Modano - and the team did fine after that).
