Antilles328 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2009 I was looking at the stats on the NHL.com and I noticed Crosby was the #1 for assists (so his picture is displayed). Yet Franzen has just as many assists. Why does Crosby get picked over Franzen for the #1 spot. It's not total points because both Franzen/Crosby have 2 G 4 A 6 P It's not alphabetical because Ryder is listed over Malkin for Points when they both have 4 G 3 A It's not points per game because Franzen has 4 A in 4 games whereas Crosby has 4 A in 5. I wouldn't be surprised if the NHL actually biased the stats to default to Crosby (or some sort of popularity based metric) but I can't understand the logic unless Bettman runs the NHL and NHL.com. Anyone have any ideas?

Hitchhiker 9 Report post Posted April 24, 2009 Just a guess... maybe Crosby hit the number before Franzen?
Dano33 41 Report post Posted April 24, 2009 I'm assuming it's random. It's really nothing worth worrying about.
Frozen-Man 144 Report post Posted April 24, 2009 Just a guess... maybe Crosby hit the number before Franzen? I think that you are right and it is something like that. I have seen Red Wing's players over other guys plenty of times.
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted April 24, 2009 I'm sure its just random - especially since Kessel is ahead of Crosby with 6pts. Although you'd think since Franzen has 6pt in 4 games, and Crosby has the same amount through 5 games, that the guy with the better pp/g rate would be ahead, but its no biggie. No conspiracy here. Guest Shoreline Report post Posted April 24, 2009 (edited) This is clearly a Crosby conspiracy. He and Bettman are probably having sex with the NHL.com webmaster. If you want the way it starts off, when Assists are the same, it's by Points, then Alphabetical order, then some time down the stat board it gets mashed up and who the hell knows. Might in fact be who got there first. Edited April 24, 2009 by Shoreline

stactum 4 Report post Posted April 24, 2009 (edited) I assume Franzen played less games than Crosby so technically he suppose to be higher in the standings. Ohh, I see there is a simple logic implemented in their stats engine: if (name="Cindy Crybaby") addGoal(+1,setType="EN") standingSet(+1) else (setLowerSeed) Edited April 24, 2009 by stactum
