VS Promos

I love how the VS playoff promos showcase Pittsburgh scoring the winning goal in game 5 in last year's Cup Finals to force a game 6. Center Ice does a similar thing with the guy watching games in his living room through plexi-glass. He's in a Pens uniform cheering as they show Hossa scoring on Osgood.

Gary Bettman must be channeling his last year's hopes and wet dreams into the marketing departments of these carriers. Maybe I wouldn't mind the saturated promotion of certain teams and players so much if the NHL weren't so transparent about it. Just do it without telling me the marketing plan behind it. Loses all it's intended magic.

I'd rather listen to Madden on Farve....or better yet Caliendo as Madden on Farve.

I suppose the best revenge would be Ovechkin and Crosby running into each other the first shift of game one, knocking each other out of the playoffs.

Then we could look forward to Chara or Savard in the commercials next year even though they end up losing to the Wings who hopefully injure Pronger permanently on their way to their 2nd consecutive championship.

Am I rambling?

You sound a tad bitter, but yes this commercial annoys almost all of us here and has been brought up on a few occasions.

I wish we wouldn't worry about commercials, mostly because some sort of shot is taken at Bettman. I'm not defending him, but i'm a bit sick of the whining about the damn guy and his "crush on sindy". What matters is the Wings won the cup in 08. Here's an idea, have the championship DVD ready and turn it on during the commercials.

The commercials kinda show how a series can end/change in a second. I was at Game 5 and it sucked more than anything, but it was still a great game AND a great finish. One of the longest OT Stanley Cup games in Wings' history.

It's a commercial; get over it.

There was a thread on this about a week back.

Yes, it is very embarrassing, but the NHL is a pathetic league so I'm not surprised.

They might as well show a doctored video of Crosby holding the Stanley Cup.

Don't give them ideas!

haha Pretty much.

It is getting pretty pathetic how transparent the NHL is in their marketing regarding the fact that EVERYONE in the NHL offices are sour about the Penguins losing in 6 games to the Red Wings last year. I don't think there is a way that these ads don't get pitched without someone saying basicly: "ok, so this and that is happening, and make it look like the Penguins won the cup last year"

Here's better ideas for time/second related references to the 2008 Stanley Cup finals:

- 13 seconds: the time when blatant trips in the neutral zone are no longer called.

- 2 minutes: way too much time to spend in the box for alleged "charging" penalties... twice.

- 1:40 minutes: not enough time to score a 5-on-3 goal against the champs.

Its official, you are the 1,000,000 person to WHINE and CRY about this. Congratulations!!!! You win the chance to realize that the not every commercial for the NHL has to be about Detroit.

Please tell me the last time you seen a commercial with the predators in it? at least 50% of the NHL's commercials have the wings in them.
