cboth686 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2009 I'm beginning to wonder if this is a mental thing with the Wings. I KNOW most of the players are different through the last few series with the Ducks, but Detroit never seems to be able to put the hammer down when it's needed most with Anaheim. I think the wings have much, much, more skill, but somehow ANA mucks through games and beats Detroit. If Detroit can't pull this off, this could haunt them for awhile. What do you think, honestly, can they still win this series?
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted May 6, 2009 In what way? In the way that our key defenseman are always hurt against them? I remember a point in the 2007 series. I believe it was Game 4, but I'm not positive. We had a few 5 on 3s going our way, and we were unable to capitalize, naturally, without Kronwall and Schneider in the lineup. We were brutal on the PP, and we were brutal in transitioning. Now, if you could pick out 2 thinks that have been killing us this series, might they be a transition game and the PP? Maybe had it been Lilja or Rafalski on this ice with Selanne, he wouldn't have gotten so far away from Chelios for the breakaway? What I'm sick of is a PUCK POSSESSION team that RELIES upon its PUCK-MOVING D always being WITHOUT a KEY PUCK-MOVER (or two).

vOrophin 5 Report post Posted May 6, 2009 Detroit is Detroit's kryptonite. If the effort in the third period was given in each and every period the Wings play, this would not be a series. The reffing through this game would be a moot point with our players paying at the top of their game.
