XxGoWingsxX 0 Report post Posted May 8, 2009 Burke will turn your team around. Trust Look dude, I will agree that homer should have been penalized for the elbow. It was accidental but so are most high sticks....they're called. Now that that's settled...Carlyle wanted Kronwall suspended and he got a penalty for blindsiding a duck....I agree...it was a penalty but no suspension....But if you want to talk blindsiding....the hudler hit was as bad as they get....not to mention, he had the butt of his stick sticking out the end of his glove and got said glove in hudlers face....tell me what cut him if he didn't? His visor? Physical impossibility. I dont think brown should have been suspended....its playoff hockey...he got the game but if you want to talk dirty...there ya go....pot calling the kettle black. Vladifan 680 Report post Posted May 8, 2009 I've seen the Ducks more than probably anyone else on this board as I have covered them as a member of the media for the past three seasons. I know they are a very physical team who have done a lot of dirty things over the years. However, that does not mean that they cannot be the victim of a dirty hit as well. A thief can still be robbed and a dirty team can still be victimized by a cheap shot. I'm not saying what Holmstrom did was a cheap shot or dirty, necessarily, just saying that the Ducks being a dirty team is not a factor in deciding whether or not this was a dirty play by Holmstrom. The point of that line in my post was this: since many of you believe the Ducks to be a dirty team it should be very interesting to see what they do to Holmstrom tonight. I'm not saying whether they are dirty or not, not saying whether Holmstrom deserves any retaliation or not, just saying that the Ducks clearly feel that it was a blatant elbow to the face of an injured player and I'm curious to see how they respond tonight. Do you believe whatever they do to Holmstrom will really be anything new? Why do you make it sound like this would be a novel idea for them? The NHL supposedly said before this season (I believe - as opposed to before the playoffs) that they were going to crack down on strategic violence/fighting. In the Ducks' case, they haven't come close. It borders on criminal what they get away with with just after-the-whistle-crap. They have done it all season long. And I honestly don't think the NHL will follow through until someone is seriously injured. But meanwhile, if the Ducks get really down and dirty tonight - even moreso than usual - the only shock I'll experience is if the refs actually do something about it.
