MidMichSteve 1,115 Report post Posted May 20, 2009 But that one goal was pretty. Toews, set up to the side of the Red Wings' net, deflected the puck off the skate of defenseman Jonathan Ericsson and past unsuspecting goalie Chris Osgood. These two sentences took away the writers credibility in my opinion. It was an ugly goal. I have no problem with ugly goals, we have certainly had our share of them during these playoffs. They count the same etc. etc. .........but it wasn't like he did it on purpose. Big E turned his skate after the pass was made. I'm not trying to take anything away from the goal. Hawks 1 Wings 0. Good goal. Put it to the net.
Theophany 110 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 It ain't over til it's over You guys said the same thing about the Ducks, and we still won that series. The Hawks played the Flames and the 'Nucks, both of whom played weaker than the Ducks did; that their fans felt confident coming off of those series shouldn't be a shock. Facing a horrible Flames team and a 'Nucks team with no offensive punch to speak of and Mr Roberto "just call me Sieve" Luongo, yeah, you're going to look like you can take the Red Wings. The Hawks LOST to a tired Wings team that were--to be honest--playing like crap in game 2. We had moments of brilliance, but we weren't playing like we showed we could play against the Ducks. With two days of rest for our boys, we should be able to put it away in 5, if not 4*. It's over. The Hawks have to win 4 out of the next 5 to take the series. It ain't happening this year. (*: this is of course assuming that we show up to play in game 3 and game 4, and not slack off and play like we did for most of game 2. I expect to see Helm sharing his rocket skates with the rest of the team; I'm tired of seeing him being the only one trying to charge to loose pucks.) Husker BigGuy 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2009 It ain't over, I don't care what this particular writer said. As I said in the GDT: "Do not underestimate your enemy. For when you do, that is when he will strike." Nobody here should start getting too big for their britches. Look, we are spectators and comentators here. I like the Wings, but they do not add anything or take anything away from me. You need to step back. That being said, the Hawks are dead birds. Stick a fork in 'em.
