taxijim 11 Report post Posted June 3, 2009 I realize he isn't really a proven commodity yet on the PK yet, but Helm in his few brief stints on the PK has been outstanding. The Wings PK to me is their biggest weakness & needs some fresh blood....seeing Helm never gets on the PP he is often rested & could take some pressure off. the regulars who play both. The Wings often look tired & I don't understand why Babcock doesn't use him more often to PK to give the others a bit of a rest. The kid is learning every game & I'm sure would eventually chip in the odd shorthander with his speed as well.
Theophany 110 Report post Posted June 3, 2009 I agree, Helm has been fantastic on the PK. I rarely see him out of position in our defensive end. When he is, it's usually doubling up to force the puck up the boards or to force the puck down behind the net.
Opie 308 Report post Posted June 3, 2009 babs' theory, well imo at least, is depth, depth, depth. No one logs too much 5 on 5 time, no one logs too much PP time, no one logs too much pk time. There are games were I swear I saw a total of 8 forwards on the PK. I mean hell why not, when healthy Dats, Z, Cleary, Mule, Hossa, Flip, Helm, Draper, and Maltby can all kill penalties very effectively, why wear down Z and Pav when you have so many other guys to share the load! wingslogo19 281 Report post Posted June 3, 2009 I'd like see see Helm more on the pk. He's done a great job when he is on
Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted June 3, 2009 That speed he has could be a great asset on a PK that is known for letting the other team make the first mistake.
