Opie 308 Report post Posted June 3, 2009 Clicky clicky Well it appears as though this may make the Kessel signing a little harder. I assumed Krejci would be high on their list of proirities! Tim Thomas takes up what Fernandez was making and what Thomas himself was making together last year, Kessel is a RFA, Montador UFA, PJ Axelsson UFA, Stephane Yelle UFA, Recchi UFA. That is a lot of spots to fill and not a lot of dough to do it with! This signing (According to NHLNumbers) puts them at 50+ mil for the season 12 forwards signed 5 D 2 Goalies *Rask being one of them who is RFA after next year, no way he sits the pine in Beantown all year to back up Thomas, plus they have Regan if they want (RFA) but do they trust him in the pipes to be everyday backup? Boston had the perfect storm this year -- sort of like Ottawa years ago and Buffalo a couple years back. It sucks teams can not afford sign their own young talent once they break out. RedFX 48 Report post Posted June 3, 2009 I wonder if this was a Kejci or Kessel decision. Hate to see the B's lose either one of those guys.
Guest Shoreline Report post Posted June 3, 2009 Despite numerous mistakes in recent years I'm inclined to believe the B's finally have some sensibility down and will re-sign Kessel too.
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted June 3, 2009 Where's the jaw drop emoticon? Did anyone look at those numbers? 3.75M for 3 years? Thats a great deal. Many folks were projecting Krejci would get 5M per, and it was speculated he was going to be a huge target for offer-sheets. 23 years old 20+ goals 70+ pts 8pts in 11 games in the post-season 15% shooting +37 1:46 on the PK Defensively sound Offensively talented Just a great deal all-around. mjlegend 155 Report post Posted June 4, 2009 It's probably what Hudler would be able to get on the open market, if there were such an animal as an open market.
