HadThomasVokounOnFortSt 878 Report post Posted June 10, 2009 Well it looks like NBA got the better ratings by a bit more. ABC- 3.9 NBC- 2.2 NBA Game 3- 9.594 million people watched NHL game 6- 5.451 million people watched http://tvbythenumbers.com/category/ratings...tv-show-ratings This is sad how a game 3 can beat a game 6. Plus when one team can win the championship and NBA is better to watch.
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted June 10, 2009 Baby steps, baby steps, the NHL will get there. I don't think anyone predicted it would where it is now a few years ago. It's picking up momentum and popularity, largely thanks to the Wings and the Pens the past two years.
Duck Guy 86 Report post Posted June 10, 2009 NBA finals (especially if it is the LA Kobes) will always beat out the NHL finals. NBA has a wayyyyy bigger following then hockey. Not at all surprised by this.
heed316 7 Report post Posted June 10, 2009 I'm sure LA being in the finals helps the NBA as they are the second biggest market in the country...but this was to be expected.
Lovin Jiri Fischer 147 Report post Posted June 10, 2009 Stats never show the whole story. NBC didn't have the ratings that ABC did. But how many people watched the game on CBC? How many people went out to watch the Wins game at a bar? I think it's more likely that more people went out for the Wings game because last night there was a potential celebration. And I also know tons of people who are pissed at NBC for the Joe Vision issue so they watched CBC and went out instead.

I know a lot of people around the country... and i don't know anyone with a Neilson's box.... so those stats are skewed... just a sampling I watched NBC last night because when it came down to it... my watching didn't give them ratings and that was what i wanted to do to them anyways (not give them ratings)
