Gregory40 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2009 http://www.canada.com/National+Hockey+Leag...3473/story.html "Among Western Conference teams, the Edmonton Oilers and Chicago Blackhawks were the most mentioned by agents and league sources Friday, with the San Jose Sharks and Vancouver Canucks also possibly in the mix." I've just heard that the Blackhawks along with the Oilers are two teams with the strongest cases for Heatley. I know Martin Havlat wants to be back in Chicago and if they get him signed for the home town deal everyone is speculating in the mix, and can somehow rid themselves of Campbell for Heatley. I will be scared. Heatley, Kane, Toews, Havlat possibly, Sharp, and Bolland with that D-Core. Yikes.
wingsdiehard13 33 Report post Posted June 14, 2009 Trading Cambell's awful contract for Heatley is wishful thinking for the 'Hawks. I don't see the Sens making that deal.
Packer487 3 Report post Posted June 14, 2009 The Sharks would make sense. That team clearly (and if I type "Cleary" one more time when I'm trying to type clearly.....) needs to make some changes. Maybe center a deal around Thornton or Marleau (clearly they'd have to put more in a Marleau deal). That would be a really nice pickup for them. Could Chicago take on Heatley's contract without screwing themselves when it's time to resign Kane, Toews and the other youngsters? I don't see Ottawa taking Campbell or Huet back as the center piece of a trade....
TheOwl 77 Report post Posted June 15, 2009 Chicago can afford him if they trade Huet, but Ottawa's already got a decent goalie in LeClaire.
VM1138 1,921 Report post Posted June 15, 2009 IF the Hawks can pull this off, they'll be in Cup contention. The Central will get considerably harder next year, I have a feeling. It's a good thing the Wings remember what it's like to lose and they'll play their hearts out game in and game out.
Z Winged Dangler 2,082 Report post Posted June 15, 2009 chicago needs to get rid of huet and campbell to be able to afford heatley...that is if they want to keep toews and kane, along with bolland when he gets his pay raise come contract time. i could see him going to edmonton and ottawa getting stuck with oiler trash. what about the possibility of L.A.?? they may be a team to look at as far as big moves and/or signings go this summer. gaborik and koivu need more real help in minnesota, but in the end, heatley has some say in where he'll go. so it probably will come down to the oilers or hawks. wingsdiehard13 33 Report post Posted June 16, 2009 raises for who...koivu and miettinen? who else? They re-signed Backstrom to a 6 million dollar deal that kicks in this coming year, they will have to re-sign Koivu and Miettinen in a couple years, and Brent Burns the year after that. It will be difficult putting Heatly on their roster in the coming years without Gaborik, let alone with Gaborik.
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted June 18, 2009 Chicago can afford him if they trade Huet, but Ottawa's already got a decent goalie in LeClaire. Chicago can pretty much afford him if they don't resign Khabibulin. That covers most of Heatley's contract. Huet, not Khabibulin, was Chicago's starter most of last year, and TBH outplayed Khabi against the Wings. I'd take Ozzie at $6m over either Huet or Khabi, but Huet is better than Khabibulin. under_par_00 45 Report post Posted June 21, 2009 Trading Cambell's awful contract for Heatley is wishful thinking for the 'Hawks. I don't see the Sens making that deal. Ottawa could really use an offensive defenseman like Cambell. I think this trade might be likely. Throw in some draft picks somewhere.
wingsdiehard13 33 Report post Posted June 21, 2009 Ottawa could really use an offensive defenseman like Cambell. I think this trade might be likely. Throw in some draft picks somewhere. Oh there's no doubt Ottawa could use a puck moving defensemen like Cambell, that's exactly what they need, but he has an atrocious contract. If they aren't worried about cap space then go ahead and make that deal if you're the Sens. Still, I don't think Ottawa wants anything to do with Cambell, because of his contract.
