eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted June 22, 2009 Please post here only sure "deals"... example: Gary Roberts & Markus Naslund (retired) Fedorov & Kozlov (to Metallurg Magnitogorsk)..... Source please? There was a rumor that surfaced around Mat 25th-26th that Fedorov was going KHL next year. On May 28th, Fedorov's agent was interviewed and said he has signed no deal with any Russian club and is still talking to the Caps, and has made no decision on his future (as of that point). Unless you have something more definitive, Fedorov to KHL is simply a rumor that as of right now holds no water.

Yeah, I think it was just a rumor, but it may come to fruition considering he will have to take a pay cut in Washington and I doubt he'll get much interest around the league. eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted June 23, 2009 Yeah, I think it was just a rumor, but it may come to fruition considering he will have to take a pay cut in Washington and I doubt he'll get much interest around the league. Fedorov was Washington's second best forward in the playoffs and is still very quick (though not as fast as he used to be) and very good defensively, still has a good wrister and a heavy slapper, is a good leader (ask his Washington teammates) and can play any position. Fedorov's production this season with the Caps: 52 GP, 11g-22a-33pt, +6 Over 82 games, that works out to: 17g-35a-52pt, +9 Which are pretty decent numbers for a guy playing on the second line with no linemates with any significant offensive talent. Especially one who can play excellent defense. Certainly not the Fedorov of old, but definitely worth a look for a lot of teams at a salary of $2.5m-$3m. Put him in Phoenix centering a line of Petr Prucha/Sergei Fedorov/Shane Doan and he probably can hit 65 points if not more.
wingsdiehard13 33 Report post Posted June 23, 2009 You can argue his numbers all you want, and you're right he has no linemates of significance, but he is not worth 4 million. Which would mean he has to take a pay cut. I'm not saying it would be a bad move for the Coyotes, but you know as well as I, the Yotes will be just over the cap floor. They have plenty of cap space but do you really think, in their current management situation, that they would target a 39 year old player? I don't.

I just mentioned it as a good fit. But Fedorov would be a good fit for a lot of teams at $2.5m. What I think the Coyotes should do for a first line center is trade their top pick this year and Chris Summers to the Wings for Filppula, Stuart, and Detroit's 1st. Good deal for both sides. Yeah, I remember reading that in another thread. It's definetly a good deal, especially in the future. But I just can't see it happening.

If the Wings could get a 2nd or third for Tomas Holmstrom and sign Fedorov for the same money or less to a one year deal, I'd take that in an instant. Fedorov is MUCH better than Homer as a player, plus we'd be getting a pick.

Injured or not, his production the last few months probably has scared off any takers. Not that he's not valuable anymore, but at his salary, and at his age, and at his production, I don't forsee any takers.
