joshy207 156 Report post Posted July 13, 2009 The only downside to waiting till the trade deadline is we'd have to give up draft picks to get someone. If we sign someone now, it won't cost anything but cap space. I know there isn't alot out there to choose from, but I trust KH to get a couple role guys that will give us a good chance at another run at the Cup. Like someone said earier, look what the Pens lost last year and it turned out good for them in the end. I'm really excited about the upcoming season and I like our chances alot. However, around mid-season or at the deadline, we'll have much more money to spend as contracts are pro-rated over the course of the season. We could stand to acquire a $4-5M player late in the season, or a couple guys around $2-3M. And Holland will have the cap room in the future to take on those salaries late this year... Might cost us a pick, prospect, or NHL player... but might be worth it, too.
WingZNut13 99 Report post Posted July 13, 2009 No one wants to wait! We want to know right now who the hell is going to playing on what line. I check 5 websites a day to see if there is any news. I am sick of wondering who is going to fill those two spots!!! I have faith in Holland and the front office but I'm still a lil weary. It's way to early to be making predictions. I really hope/think/pray that they will win the division again. I think the only team to compete with us is Chicago..... With the team as it is, I am weary but I have faith. ....at this point, faith doesn't win a Stanley Cup.*cite 2009 season*

stevkrause 1,247 Report post Posted July 14, 2009 ...but within a month, he went back to Europe where he has shown very little if any improvement. He would have been better served staying in Grand Rapids. There are more than a few forwards ahead of him now that weren't in September '07. I agree on everything you said and I don't think he WILL make the team... I'm just saying don't rule him out... you never know... he's HUGE and VERY quick... 2 things Babs loves, speed and size...
