Guest Crymson Report post Posted July 18, 2009 Kinda like the Wings? The team has many great penalty killers. I think it was more a matter of poor method than any issue with the personnel.
Snazzy 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2009 I whole-heartedly agree that Oulahen deserves a shot to make the Wings out of camp. His defensive skill and PK ability would be greatly appreciated on the Wings right now. Are you sure he's re-signed with the Wings? I'm pretty up to date in all the Wings news (I'm pretty obsessive-compulsive when it comes to the Red Wings). I haven't heard a peep about it. I do know that the Wings tendered qualifying offers to the following players this offseason: -->Hudler, Leino, McGrath and Oulahen. Of those 4 only Leino was signed and to my knowledge, only Hudler filed for arbitration. That leaves McGrath and Oulahen exposed to an offer sheet (about as likely as Holland growing a second head). Where did you read that Oulahen re-signed? What's your scoop on McGrath?
GROwl 5 Report post Posted July 19, 2009 What's your scoop on McGrath? In many ways, similar to Ryan Oulahen. He was also given a qualified offer, but I haven't seen that he has actually signed yet. Evan will need to clear waivers too this Fall to go to GR again. Ryan's been with GR 4 years, Evan 3. Evan doesn't have as much as a specialty as Ryan's penalty killing, but seems slightly better 5-on-5. A few months into the season, he went on a roll on a line with Frankie Pare and Frankie Lemieux - where the line couldn't do anything wrong. Unfortunately, then the line gotten broken up with fairly long injuries to Lemieux and then McGrath, and the momentum was lost. Training camp and the fight for the few open Wings' roster spots will be tight...but I think Evan will be a long shot for one of them. Likely, he will clear waivers and will be back to GR. I sure hope so.
