norrisnick 1 Report post Posted September 20, 2009 I have no idea, but I assure you I'm aware that everyone is going to play with everyone. The correct answer is never. Babcock has never put them together at the start and has only gone to it as a sort of "desperate times calls for desperate measures" late in a game and then a string of games where they do stick together. norrisnick 1 Report post Posted September 20, 2009 We won the cup with Datsyuk and Zetterberg playing together. End. Franzen - Z - Cleary last spring was better than Pavel - Z - Homer in '08. Weird how that works.
Z and D for the C 712 Report post Posted September 20, 2009 Franzen - Z - Cleary last spring was better than Pavel - Z - Homer in '08. Why? Because you say so? Obviously a loose comparison for multiple reasons, but in 2009 Z Cleary and Franzen combined for 63 points and +38. In 2008 the ZDH line combined for 62 points and +33. The weak link there obviously being Holmstrom, and yet even so, FZC (I'm lazy) only got one point more than ZDC and 5 +/- more. Zetterberg and Datsyuk are better than any other pair of players on the red wings, and almost in the league. This is a better team when they're together. dat's sick 1,002 Report post Posted September 20, 2009 Is this really news? When was the last time they were 'together'? Aside from a few shifts or the odd game every now and then. During a stretch of few games in the middle of last season.. What makes me a bit sad if they're split up is that in interviews both Z and Pavel always say how much they love playing together. When they were paired up last season, Z made it sound like he had "done his time" with other linemates and was now finally back with his buddy. But oh well, what's best for them might not be best for the team?
