Icesurfer 75 Report post Posted October 31, 2009 I agree that McCrimmon needs to go ...... but at least the Wings "puck possession" style has gotten a LITTLE bit better over the last week or so..... Defensive zone turnovers seem to be down a little but I haven't look at the stats. The Wings are making safer passes and "reloading" when necessary.
Guest mindfly Report post Posted October 31, 2009 Is it confirmed that McCrimmon handle the D on this team?.. I know he was a defenseman but has it been written anywhere that he has the responsibility for the D and nothing else?
hokike 1 Report post Posted October 31, 2009 This thread is undoubtely very interesting read for anthropogolists. "McCrimmon" symbolises for posters everything "what has gone wrong". After casting magic called "firing McCrimmon" everything goes back to normal. All this line of thinking has nothing to do with reality. None of LGWers have informations about exact responsibilites shared by assistants' staff or how much head coach takes into account of suggestions made by assistants. Or what team is doing during practices. Sorry folks, there is no magic or quickfixes. due to financial restrictions there is no "miracle" trades coming also... I look at it that nothing of great significance changed on D between the 07-08 squad ranked 10th, the '09 squad ranked 25th, and the current crop ranked 22nd. Look at what I said before- lose a basically non-playing Stafford, Quincey and Chelios, gain Ericsson and Meech. The team has at worst stayed level in talent, just the coaching has changed. Their conditioning on D sucks, and that falls to the D coach.

I would call it more positioning, match-ups and preparedness than conditioning, but yes, that falls on the D coach
