b.shanafan14 733 Report post Posted November 24, 2009 Not bad, but he just doesn't seem like a good television guy. Didn't seem very natural up there.
rage 24 Report post Posted November 24, 2009 LMAO @@ Poster above me!!! He seemed perfect!! There was a point where Carrissa Thompson Interviewed Draper (2nd Intermission I think) and Draper said; "Yeah, I got the chance to go up there between periods and saw Mac's Suite and I KNOW he didn't buy that!! IT HAS TO BE A RENTAL!!! Mac would never wear something so nice!!!!" LOL And at the end of the VS Hockey BS, Mac's last comment was, Yeah, it's Drapes Suite (i'm wearing) LMAO!! He's gonna be great for that job. He's got a slamming sence of humor and he's a great fit to any teams' broadcast!!!
stevkrause 1,247 Report post Posted November 24, 2009 (edited) not horrible... but if you compare it to his spots on FSN and the radio for the Wings and Grifs, it was sub-par at best... he seemed nervous and was trying too hard to be a "broadcaster" on a national telecast instead of just being himself and he came across as stiff - I think if he had just been a color guy and been himself, he would have done much better... he also should have put in his false teeth... Pretty much what I mean. Came in very soft-spoken and he responses were pretty stock until Draper threw in the shot about his suit.

kook_10 1,705 Report post Posted November 24, 2009 they were feeding him preplanned questions, and it sounded like he had already practiced the answers. he seemed nervous and since he was slouching his suit looked like he had been out all night. it wasn't great, but it was his first time. once he gets some confidence and can wax a little more off the cuff he will be fine. i hope they keep him long enough to do that. stevkrause 1,247 Report post Posted November 24, 2009 Go to 1:38 to see Draper slam Darren about his suit! that's great... it's what he needed though, he needs to react and talk that way all the time and just be himself and he'll do great... that stiff persona he had otherwise wasn't him... Vladifan 680 Report post Posted November 24, 2009 Go to 1:38 to see Draper slam Darren about his suit! THANKS for this, pokemon! I didn't get to see any of it, but I think Mac looks great here and he did what he had to do under the conditions of the show. He has so much time to say what he wants to say, and of course it's gonna be at least partly scripted because he has to say what he wants to within very defined time limits. And it also cuts down on nerves to be even partly scripted. You gotta know the floor director was out there giving hand signals and that can be distracting too if you're not used to it. He was very much himself when responding to Drapes, and everybody had to love that. And it also showed the real Mac right there. He did fine and I hope he gets more gigs like it.
