russianswede919293 95 Report post Posted December 3, 2009 http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=300950 Traded for a prospect named Philippe Paradis. Tlust never seemed to regain any confidence or credibility after his nudy picture incident. Fresh start should do him good, he could still be a solid 2nd or 3rd liner in the NHL
MacK_Attack 108 Report post Posted December 3, 2009 Traded for a prospect named Philippe Paradis. Carolina's 2009 first round pick. Don't know anything about him other than he's a power forward in the making. Tlusty had lots of chances to make it in the NHL, but never seemed to overcome the stage fright. Maybe the anonymity of playing in Carolina will help him in that regard.

How did I not hear about this? What'd he do, send Toskala pictures of his crank or something?
Yellowknife Redwing 57 Report post Posted December 3, 2009 This is an awesome move for both teams. I'm more than willing to bet that Tlusty will become a full-timer on the Canes by the end of the season because he's got far too much talent to be left out of the NHL. Tlusty had 66 pts in 66 gp last year for the Marlies and was 20th overall in AHL scoring. As far as the Leafs are concerned, Paradis is still a very high-end prospect and could very easily turn out to be better than either of the 1st round picks that were traded for Kessel. Very smart move by Burke to get this level of return from a guy who was all but guaranteed to be jettisoned by the end of the season once his contract ran out. russianswede919293 95 Report post Posted December 3, 2009 (edited) This is an awesome move for both teams. I'm more than willing to bet that Tlusty will become a full-timer on the Canes by the end of the season because he's got far too much talent to be left out of the NHL. Tlusty had 66 pts in 66 gp last year for the Marlies and was 20th overall in AHL scoring. Very smart move by Burke to get this level of return from a guy who was all but guaranteed to be jettisoned by the end of the season once his contract ran out. Except right now, if they stay as bad as they have been then the first of those picks would be either Tyler Seguin or Taylor Hall... EDIT: It is a smart move to get a good 1st rounder to make up for the 2 you miss out on the next two years though, especially for a guy with no future on that team. Not a bad move at all by Burke, in fact a very good one...just doesn't negate the s***ty move of all those picks for Kessel when he could have signed Kessel to an offer sheet for less picks. Konnan511 1,736 Report post Posted December 3, 2009 Carolina's 2009 first round pick. Don't know anything about him other than he's a power forward in the making. History 2008-09: His numbers with Shawinigan were not jaw-dropping,19 goals, 31 assists in 66 games. He won the hardest shot competition at the 2009 CHL Top Prospects Game with a blast clocked at 95.7 mph. Talent Analysis A mixture of physical presence and scoring skill, Paradis is an attractive prospect. He possesses a hard shot and has the ability to make room for himself and his teammates on the ice. Paradis isn't a player to back down from a challenge. Already an intriguing medley of grit and ability, if Paradis gets faster and stronger, he could become a dominant force in the QMJHL. per HFboards.
T-Ruff 47 Report post Posted December 4, 2009 Most Leafs fans I've talked to don't like this trade. Tlustly was ripping it up in the A and this prospect has decent numbers in Jr. They feel it will be another classic case of giving up on someone too early. Time will tell...
