It really is funny how Hawk fans are sitting atop the world right now. They beat a group of AHL players in the freaking regular season.

God, this is getting monotonous. It seems like every game is starting to look like every other game. Goaltending just good enough to lose by a goal or two. A defensive lapse here and there, on which the opponents score every time. Very few defensive lapses by the opponents - and if there are, the Wings will miss the net. Every rush down the ice features a 50ft. slap shot by the lead man, which rebounds right to the opponent heading the other way. Teams really know how to defend this bunch, especially Lidstrom, yet the Wings are still trying the same old things, expecting different results.

Fortunately, there is an Olympics break, which traditionally cools off hot teams, and gives a jump start to cold teams. I just hope that we can get most of our players back soon enough to let them shake the rust off before it's too late.

They had a chance to get something out of this game early, but feared snipers Drew Miller and Justin Abdelkader (look out for his knuckle puck!) weren't able to convert. And yet, the Hawks weren't exactly skating all over the Wings and the big guns still had a chance to make something happen with power plays, but Datsyuk has been on and off seemingly at random and tonight he was way off; Lidstrom has been useless as a scoring threat all season.

When the only two remaining elite players on your team aren't even playing up to an elite level, you take whatever small chance you have and reduce it to zero.

Niemi played very good.

We had a good first and after that just seemed to lose steam, Hawks got the lead and milked the clock and were sound defensively.

Flip is back next game so there is something to look forward to, when we are fully healthy i hope Janik is playing over Lebda.
