At first I was disappointed at the Wings not being in the top 5, but after reading about the 5 ahead of us I guess I understand why. As good as we've been it's hard to believe that other sports teams fared better. Wow!!! Michigan State and the Pistons also made it. Kudos to Michigan. California also had 3 but they have like 3 pro teams for every sport (exagerration).

No, it's not.

NHL: San Jose, LA, Anaheim

MLB: Anaheim, LA, SF, SD

NBA: LAL, Sac, LAC, GSW

NFL: OAK, SF, SD

And that's just the big 4 and I probably missed a couple.

I gotta say Northern Cal, beyond the Sharks, isn't representing this state well. Raiders? 49ers? Kings? Warriors? A's? Giants? It's a bad year, or last handful of years, for us.

I don't really see what the kudos is for, though, since this is just some op-ed's opinion surrounding what would seem evident to be teams that get the most media attention, and hockey is clearly under-represented, which, much like the ESPYs, isn't surprising given it's the States we're talking about.

Detroit also missed a golden opportunity to win a third Cup of the decade in the 2009 Cup finals, blowing a 3-2 series lead by losing the final two games to Pittsburgh at Joe Louis Arena.

Do they have to remind us? :( Well, we're the highest hockey team with the 2nd being no where near.
