Lines once everyone gets back...Do we need to make a trade!?

...I think that Babs puts his go-to first line from last post-season back together once everyone's healthy.

Bertuzzi-Datsyuk-Holmstrom

...This line has developed some great chemistry. There's no reason to break it up once everyone gets back. It could even be better than our second line from last post-season (Hossa-Pav-Homer).

Abdelkader/Leino/Miller-Filppula-Williams

...Flip's going to center this line, and Williams is going to be on one of the wings, we all know that. But who is going to be the third man!? I don't want to mess with Drapes, Helm, or Eaves. Those guys have played so well together, I want to keep them together on the 4th line. Leino played pretty well with these guys earlier in the year, but I'm just so sick of him right now. I say you give Abby the first shot. He's played very hard, and well. He'd add a physical net presence to this line of skilled offensive players. If you really want to send Abby back down, let Miller push Leino.

Draper-Helm-Eaves

...These guys have played too well together to be broken up. They might even play as much as our third line. Shut down specialists. It's a shame to write off Maltby, but we're just better with Eaves in the lineup right now. Insert May every once in a while for a fight.

...If Lilja gets back, that'd be awesome, but it seems pretty unlikely. Honestly, I'd like to see the kid Kindl get a shot here. I think that he could have an Ericsson-like impact on our team in the post-season. If he's not ready, and it's down to Lebda/Meech/Janik, I might honestly go with Janik at this point.

...If game one of round one started tomorrow, there's no way that we couldn't start Howard. Ozzie needs to get it together, and in a hurry. Otherwise the kid's starting. He's been sensational. I don't really see the need to pursue any goalies in a trade this season. He gives us a chance to win every game we're in. Nothing more you can ask for.

...With all of those good things about Howard being said, I still really hope that Ozzie gets it together. He's got experience. He was flat out phenomenal last post-season. Please get it together.

SOOO...as far as trades are concerned:

#1) I really like the way our first two lines are looking healthy. But still, we need to add a little scoring. If we can get someone that would play well with Flip and J-Will on the third line, I'd certainly be all for it!

#2) Sixth defenseman. Lilja's probably not coming back. Kindl's probably not going to be ready. Janik/Lebda/Meech aren't playing like stanley cup calliber defensemen right now. It might be a good idea to add someone solid.

...am I alone in thinking that we could be the FAVORITES in the west come playoffs with this healthy roster...plus a guy or two?!?

I disagree about Janik. I think if he continues to get ice time with the Wings, he will be just fine in the playoffs.

I don't think we need a defensmen. I would like to see a goal scorer though (duh... right?)

Maybe not good enough right this moment, but everyone will have a real good idea of what he is capable of by the time the trade deadline comes. Assuming he still gets ice time after Kronwall comes back. I think he could really make some strides by the time the season ends.

A month ago I would have agreed. Lately though, our defense has really picked up.

Then again... our offense should pick up once people start returning. Holmstrom going out the door won't help.

Janik is not that good, so far he has gotten laid out and given away many pucks, the last maybe 2 games he has been a legitimate nhl dman
