Ovekchin vs Downie fight... almost

Damn, Ovie wanted that so bad. He got those gloves off and even took his helmet off. At least he isn't scared to get into a straight up fight instead of some scrum where they punch eachother with their gloves on for half the fight. I'm sure we'll see him fight sometime in his career, he has a hot temper too it seems and wouldn't sound out of the question.

I find it funny Ovechkin needs protection. Freaking Euro can't fight his own battles...

Crosby would of fought instead of having someone fight for him...

I know you like to aggressively troll these boards but come the f*** on man.

Hell, Fedor Emilianenko would probably get his ass kicked in a hockey fight, if he doesn't know how to balance properly and get a good grip.

Uhhh, I don't know if I would go that far... He's good in a clench and I think he might get a few shots in. It would depend on who he was fighting.

As for OV, I think he would hold his own in a fight. Would it be an ass-kicking? Probably not. But I think he could at least wrestle most non-enforcers to the ice and wrap them up pretty good. Most hockey players not known for fighting can at least do that, and OV is not the normal superstar as he also has a physical side.

I kinda wanted to see ovie fight personally, I think he could handle himself pretty well. i know people will say " but he might break a hand or something", well this is hockey and sometimes star players have to step up too

If Ovie drops the gloves and actually fights someone without one of his teammates coming in, other players will know that they can get him off the ice without any serious consequences just by being ****** bags.

Had his teammate not stepped in, you'd have seen a lot of guys trying to pick fights with Ovie, and I don't think he could have not taken a lot of them without losing some serious face.

It was an incredibly smart move by Bradley.

Which ofthe game's greats didn't fight occasionally? Yzerman, Lemieux, Gretzky, Richard, Orr - they all went once in a while. None of them dropped their gloves everytime they were invited to, and none of them really lost any real "face" because of it.

Orr actually fought quite a bit in his career. So did Messier.

I think Bobby Orr was actually a pretty tough dude who not many people wanted to challenge from what I hear.

Yzerman, Gretzky and Lemieux probably have around 5 fights between them, so I don't know what you regard as being once in a while.

I do want to see Ovechkin fight more often, however, since he lays so many huge bodychecks, and is a bigger more physical superstar player. Kind of like a power forward.

By "once in a while", I meant that they had willingly fought on some occasions.

Yzerman has about 5 consentual fights that I recall. Gretzky maybe 2. Mario had a fight or two a year until Bob Gould broke his face. Mario was not a bad fighter.

Orr was tough, so was Rocket.
