king_malice 17 Report post Posted February 10, 2010 thats cool, i personally would like to see the wings dump meech, lebda and osgood and wait for the off-season. when we have maltby, williams, bertuzzi, miller, may, eaves, holmstrom, lidstrom are all free agents and make some moves then. thats 15mill to play with. id like to think lidstrom if he does come back knowing the team is tight to the cap would take a big pay cut and sign for like. 1yr-3mill holmstrom id offer 1/2yr-1.5mill eaves and miller id sign to replace maltby same range 500-600k and bertuzzi id sign for a 3rd liner for the 1-1.5mill range. so signing those guys is about 7mill range leaving about 8mill to play with still maybe kovy for 7.5-8mill im just dreaming here let it be. franzen-datsyuk-kovalchuk holmstrom-filpulla-zetterbeg bertuzzi-abdelkader-cleary eaves-helm-draper lidstrom-rafalski kronwall-ericsson stuart-lilja/janik/kindl other FA coming up RW-afinagenov (800k) RW-svatos (2mill) C-plekanec (2.75mill) C-marleau (6mill) D-volchenkov (2.5mill) G-ellis (1.75mill) G-emery(1.5mill) if we got rid of osgood you could have ellis or emery backing up howard or splitting the games maybe. just throwing some guys and numbers out there not saying its going to happen just taking a look. http://www.nhlnumbers.com/freeagents.php?t...e&type=none
henrik40 76 Report post Posted February 10, 2010 People need to realize that while Lids is probably going to give a hometown discount, I'll be really surprised if he takes under 4.5 mil. I think he'll still get 5 mil for a season. Bert isn't going to sign for less than 1.5 mil as his season this year is just as good as the one he had before he came here, if not better. Luckily his production has tailed off so he won't be wanting 2 mil or more. Quit dreaming about Kovy too.
St. Michael (the Red Wing) 422 Report post Posted February 10, 2010 I do not want to see Turco in Wings jersey. I don't think goaltending is our problem. Holding on to leads and putting the puck in the net are the problem.
Pucks 66 Report post Posted February 10, 2010 If the Wings are looking to add a goaltender what the hell sense would it make to get Turco? We already have Turco riding the pine here now. Makes no sense, Turco blows!
Guest ZetterbergFourty Report post Posted February 10, 2010 I certainly hope not. His record at the JLA is a joke.
Original-Six 254 Report post Posted February 11, 2010 If the wings got turco then they would never win any home games.
TheOwl 77 Report post Posted February 11, 2010 Wings need D, or do the Wings need their D to play better? Anyone who thinks the Wings need to spend a cent more on defenseman is insane.
Kira 451 Report post Posted February 11, 2010 Please, God, no. I'd rather have bamboo shoved under my fingernails than have Turco playing here. I've also heard that Boston might be interested, and trade off Tim Thomas. Now, if Tim was available, I might think about that one. But God, not Turco. king_malice 17 Report post Posted February 11, 2010 rumor is that tomas is available but has a NTC and about a 5mill contract they are rumored to be looking for another top 4 D and top 6 forward. send them rafalski for tomas lol if he waived his NTC
Yellowknife Redwing 57 Report post Posted February 11, 2010 Chris Osgood is a better goalie than Turco and Howard is currently playing head over heels better than both. This speculation makes zero sense to me.
Lazerbeam 13 Report post Posted February 12, 2010 Osgood has 1 more year left on his contract after this year, he is over 35 so the Wings or anybody else cant buy out his last year because it would still count against the cap (Salary cap over 35 rule) so it might be tough to unload Ozzy for that reason along with the fact no one wants an expensive goalie that sucks! Datsyerberger 279 Report post Posted February 12, 2010 I'd love to toke up sometime with the sources that think goaltending is still Detroit's problem.
T.Low 1,011 Report post Posted February 13, 2010 and bertuzzi id sign for a 3rd liner for the 1-1.5mill range. franzen-datsyuk-kovalchuk holmstrom-filpulla-zetterbeg bertuzzi-abdelkader-cleary eaves-helm-draper http://www.nhlnumbers.com/freeagents.php?t...e&type=none Serious question: What do you want out of the 3rd line that makes you think Bertuzzi is a good fit there? He is a touch passer, a bit more of an offensive weapon, needed on one of the two top lines. I think he lacks the grit and grind for the 3rd and 4rth line. Your 3rd line does not scream chemistry when I look at it.
Winged_Wheeler 3 Report post Posted February 13, 2010 I don't want Marty Five-Hole in Detroit. He's garbage.
