NHL GM's upset at Phaneuf trade

GM's upset that they weren't doing their jobs would be a more appropriate title.

Excellent point. If we heard on here that he was being moved (even if Sutter did deny it later we still heard it) an NHL GM should've been well aware of the situation.

It may have been more of where Sutter wanted Phaneuf to end up. I doubt he wants to face Phaneuf anytime soon in a playoff matchup so a deal to any Western conference team wouldn't be considered. Sutter may have wanted to bury Phaneuf, to deal him to the worst possible place, so he may not have traded him as much as "banished" him to the pit of despair known as Toronto who might make the playoffs in about 10 years, and might have a legit shot at a cup in 2085. Sutter was rumoured to have engaged in a shouting match with Phaneuf shortly before said banishing, and we all know Phaneuf's reputation for being the biggest dick in the league - yes, even more so than Pronger as even Phaneuf's own teammates don't seem to like him all that well.

So Sutter says... "Dion, you can take your sloppy seconds and f*** right off to the worst possible place I could send you - you're now a Maple Laugh! hahahahahaha"

Guest Howard He Do It?!
If other GM's didnt know about it then Sutter didn't do HIS JOB either. If Kenny ever trades an assest, I want the Deal that helps us most.

I highly doubt other GM's didn't hear about Phaneuf's availability. Like another poster said, if we knew about it here on LGW then the other 29 GM's knew about it long before. This is a case of some GM's who believed they could have offered better for Phaneuf and are upset that they didn't get him.

What a bunch a horse s***. How could they have NOT KNOWN? It was rumored for weeks that he was available. You heard it, I heard it, if they didn't hear it then they must be living in a freekin vacuum.........

He too often goes brain dead. At those times, he then needs to rally to attain pylon status.

Okay, so is he really terrible on D? Bottom 10% in the league you figure?

But then he would have sent Nion Dion to the Rangers for Higgins and Kotalik, were he could be best buds with Avery.

I remember some sage words I overheard Sutter saying: "You can only trade a tremendous asset like Brandon Prust once, so you have to make sure he's a throw-in in the right trade".

Is it just me or does this just make Burke look like a more superior or smarter GM for going after Phaneuf when everyone else thought he was untouchable?

No, it just makes Burke a "shock-and-awe" GM, like he always has been.

If it pays dividends, great. But it isn't like he is turning water to wine here.
