Guest DatsyukianDeke13 Report post Posted March 17, 2010 Found a video done by the show Sports Science about a goalie's reaction time that I found pretty interesting. It's unreal how fast they react.

I'd love to see a few cross-sport comparisons: Hardest hit- open-ice from Kronwall or Laraque, open-field tackle from an NFL tackle, or right cross from a heavyweight? Fastest sprint- Helm on a breakaway, Chris Johnson of the Raiders with a clean field, or an NCAA sprinter?

P. Marlowe 748 Report post Posted March 17, 2010 An interesting video. If they would've cut the crap though and get to the point right away the piece could've lasted one minute. It was a bit like watching C.S.I.

Finnish Wing 110 Report post Posted March 17, 2010 The fact is that Kolzig (and probably every goalies in most situations) knows at least something of where the shot is going. When you get a free look like that, no mask at all, you can look at the player's body and the stick's position and predict your save pretty well, if you're an NHL goalie. So it's not about reacting only.
Guest DatsyukianDeke13 Report post Posted March 18, 2010 True, but did you hear the guy say he reacts in 1/100th of a second...unreal.
