Russian Houdini 8 Report post Posted March 22, 2010 Sorry for being very European here... but I come from Serbia and was raised on football. 3 points for a win, 1 point for draw, 0 points for loss. End of discussion. Maybe not exciting, but it's the truth.
auxlepli 17 Report post Posted March 22, 2010 You can still support the NHL and hockey without having to like shootouts. Agreed. Still, which way can affect changes better? Posting the umpteenth thread about how much shootouts suck or not supporting the NHL, owners and players, financially based on principles. The latter affects their bottom line, and in my opinion is more effective. For example, I was a season-ticket holder for three years, then the NHL installed safety nets. I stopped being a season-ticket holder and told my representative why I would no longer be one, because of the safety nets. You have to hit them where it will hurt. End of discussion. Maybe not exciting, but it's the truth. Sorry, but it isn't. That system would have the same big problem that the current system has. There would be different amount of points on the line depending how the game ends. I personally think two ties should be the same amount of points than a win and a loss. While the gung ho spirit is all nice and shiny here, probably very few or none of owners and players are probably going to take much heart to what goes on in a sports fan forum. Very few people, if any, are probably not going to write to owners or take a stand or whatever. This is more of a place to discuss hockey/sport or vent or be illogical or biased at times, so telling somebody off like you did probably isn't all that effective either. Bump 20 Report post Posted March 22, 2010 Where can you find stats on shootout wins and losses? Does anyone have a link? Thank you.
stevkrause 1,247 Report post Posted March 22, 2010 I'm in the 3=W, 2=SO W, 1=SO L, 0=L camp. I hate ties. It just seems like it was all of that effort for nothing. I also hate extra points for some games. The 3210 system keeps all games worth the same # of points. The only thing I hate worse than ties is the system wherein there is no score kept and everyone gets a juice box and carrot sticks at the end of the game. At least bring donuts ffs. same here, it's such a simple solution... all games worth same point total, awarded more for winning as a TEAM (as it is a team game) but no lame ties in regular season... ALL GAMES WORTH SAME POINT TOTAL W in Regulation/OT - 3PTS W in SO - 2PTS L in SO - 1PT L in Reg/OT - 0PTS done and done.
