Minnesota, where they don't have much going on, but remains a favorite? Chicago, where the salary cap is already in deep trouble, even if he signs for the minimum? Washington, a place where he already declined a trade to? Or Detroit, his hometown city, with the hopes of pulling a one year deal (ala Dallas Drake) to finish his career with a team that has a very possible chance of rebounding and taking the cup one last time? I'd personally LOVE to see him here at the league min, or near it, and bring him to assist with the younger guys (Abdelkader, Ritola, Tardif, etc. etc.) who are the future in their skating techniques and playmaking skills. Comments, ideas, possiblity of this happening?

Comments, ideas, possiblity of this happening? We are already projecting to have 13 to 14 forwards. There is no room for Modano. I'd like to have him too, but it's just not realistic for this team. Especially not when it comes to taking time away from Abdelkader, Eaves, Miller, or Ritola. I'd much rather those guys get a chance and infuse some energy into the lineup. Modano would be a good option say if we don't get to sign a couple of guys, but only then.

king_malice 17 Report post Posted June 30, 2010 TSNBobMcKenzie For the right price, DET is a team that may have some interest in Mike Modano. Wouldn't that be interesting? Hometown boy and all. about 3 hours ago via web
SwedeLundin77 460 Report post Posted June 30, 2010 This will never happen as we don't have the cap room to pull it off, nor the room on the roster. We'd be getting a guy for sentimentality sake and screwing one of the kids over - NOPE.

Hometown boy and all. about 3 hours ago via web Trade Miller and Meech,Let Lilja,Maltby, and Lebda walk, and we've got enough cap room for Modano and a 6th defenseman and possibly an extremely cheap 4th liner i believe. How about: Franzen-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Filppula-Zetterberg-Hudler Cleary-Modano-Bertuzzi Boogaard-Helm-Abdelkader Draper/Ritola Lidstrom-Rafalski Stuart-Kronwall Ericsson-Colaiocovo
Majsheppard 203 Report post Posted July 1, 2010 I would handicap it at 15% chance. Seems like Holland is past the bring in the old guys phase. I would say that it would be the highest of any team, if you include 15% chance for Minnesota Wild, and I would say about 10% for each of the California teams and Vancouver with the remaining 30% being for retirement. Get out dems d20s.
