wingsownnhl43 14 Report post Posted July 1, 2010 When calulating re-signing Helm, Abs, Eaves, Miller, and Meech we will have about 1.7-1.8 million in remaining cap room. I feel we already have one of the best teams in the NHL. I dont think we will have to pursue anyone in free agency in order to have a strong regular season. Does anyone feel as though we would be better off waiting until the deadline where we could obtain a $4 million dollar player for the stretch run as opposed to signing some $1 million dollar player now? Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted July 1, 2010 We would certainly be better from February on, but who will be available that will fit in with the team under the cap restrictions that we have, and is it worth parting ways with draft picks, prospects, etc? wingsownnhl43 14 Report post Posted July 1, 2010 Not sure who will be available. Depends on how teams do during the regular season. Also, I think it'd certainly be worth parting with draft picks if it puts us closer to winning the cup.
Donaldjr2448 43 Report post Posted July 1, 2010 I personally think it is better to wait until the deadline, just because there are guys getting waaaaaaayyyyy too much money. Look at Gonchar, 5.5 million per!! That is way too much for a guy who takes games off!! Hell... Tanguay is getting 1.7 million per with Calgary! Crazy overpayments today!! blgillett 48 Report post Posted July 1, 2010 Remember guys Kenny has stated we will keep 500k for emergency use he thought we would have 1-1.5 to spend now we could make a trade for picks or not resign someone but that's not much cash to spend
Nhurdi 42 Report post Posted July 8, 2010 Just looking at the CapGeek website for Detroit and i'm wondering if we are loosing anything worthwhile here? I don't keep up with the prospects as much as I should. Johan Ryno, Evan McGrath, Riley Armstrong, Ryan Oulahen, Jeremy Williams are UFA's not signed. Jason Williams, Andreas Lilja, Kirk Maltby, Brad May I know about and they aren't signed either. Daniel Larsson, O Tollefsen, Sergi Kolosov, Jamie Tardif and Derek Meech are RFA's not signed yet. Justin Abdelkader and Darren Helm I know about and they aren't signed either. Note: Currently have 20 players signed, 3.7 mill or so to spend. I am guessing Abdelkader and Helm will be signed, if Modano does come over then i'm pretty sure Maltby is done even though there is only that quote saying he has hockey left in him as a basis for him being resigned anyways to my knowledge. Who is rounding out the D? Meech, Kolosov, Tollefsen, Lilja or Free Agent. Hopefully this thread works. Didn't want to start yet another thread that is so closely based on the others. Hossa4Life 4 Report post Posted July 8, 2010 well at the trade deadline we could get an allstar for around 4.5 mil if we were willing to trade with chicago. just saying. or better yet we could trade for him now.
Shaman 713 Report post Posted July 8, 2010 I say sign Kader and Helm and see how the team is in Feb, and if we have the space left make a play for Mikko Koivu, I know its a long shot, but Id love to have him playing for the wings, and hes a UFA at the end of next season... Just saying.
