WingedHorse 7 Report post Posted August 29, 2010 Price of Whitecaps Baseball Tickets - $26 (didn't stay for the game) Cost of Parking - $5 Time spent in line to get into ball park and then in line to meet Mickey Redmond? 2 1/2 hours Cost of getting photo taken w/ Mickey Redmond and asking him to write a book about his stories? Priceless... My husband and I met Mickey Redmond today at the Whitecaps game in Grand Rapids. He greeted those of us in line with "How's it goin' gang?" and graciously signed autographs and allowed us to take a photo with him. My husband said that I shook his hand and asked him to write a book about his stories - I don't remember that because I was so excited to meet him...I am beyond excited because I have been a HUGE fan of his. Travis 576 Report post Posted August 29, 2010 You paid $26 and didn't stay for the game? You know they sell $5 lawn seats, right? I thought about going to today's game, because I love 'Caps and own FLEX tickets - but opted for Tuesday's season finale instead. Glad to hear Mickey was available, though. It seems like the special guests are sometimes merely in attendance.
wingsgirl001 983 Report post Posted August 29, 2010 You didn't stay?! I miss going to 'Caps games. That's awesome that you met Mick, though. Glad to hear he's a nice guy.
WingedHorse 7 Report post Posted August 30, 2010 No, didn't stay because it was way too hot for us. We didn't count on it being 91 degrees, and after waiting so long, we did what the other people in front of us did - we all went home to our AC.
achildr1 255 Report post Posted August 30, 2010 I met Mickey when I played against him in an Alumni game in Monroe about 5 years ago. Somehow I kind of got matched up with him when we were rolling lines, I was playing LW and he was on the RW so we were bumping elbows and trash talking at face-offs. He messed with me a bit seeing as I was the youngest guy on the ice, I think I was 19 at the time. Next closest guy was probably 26. He got around quite well skating wise. Definetly mucked it up with me, little hooks and slashs between the both of us. After the game, me and my girlfriend talked to him for a minute as he was leaving. Bill Muckalt, Craig Wolanen, Mickey, and more were there, just can't remember a whole lot. I scored one of our goals on one of the Wing's goalies from the 80's, but I always forget his name. Definetly a good time and worth the money.
Donaldjr2448 43 Report post Posted August 31, 2010 Mickey is a great guy! I've had the chance to meet him a couple of times! He is a classy guy! I met the entire gang here in Nashville (Ken Daniels, Mickey Redmond, Ken Kal, and Paul Woods). I was able to go into the press box and meet them all, my step dad worked with a guy at GM that went to high school with Ken Kal, they were apparently good friends and I got the hook up! Ken Kal was cool, Ken Daniels was even cooler, he is a laid back dude!
