Letang "blindside" hit on Comeau

Clean hit last season...

By the new rules it isn't.

We are going to see a lot of questionable hits that look clean get called for suspensions I think..

by the new rule it still is a clean hit... If you watched the video on NHL.com of them showing examples of a clean hit that would fall under the rule as a clean hit.... He hit all shoulder to shoulder... Letang made sure he kept his elbow in and drover through the body not the head... The rule was made for hits like Richards on Booth and Cooke on Savard where ONLY the head was aimed for and contacted.

This will happen time to time until the refs get used to the new rule.... Just like when the league re did the hooking rules. There were a million hooking and interference penalties in the first couple months of the season but once the refs got a better understanding of the rule, they declined to a maintainable degree.

crash

Bottom line is you can't have your head down looking at the puck comming into the zone. Thats how you get hurt in Pee Wee, Juniors; not to mention the NHL. Clean hit even with the new rules. The reason why he wasn't protected had nothing to do with a blindside, the Comeau created the "blindside".

the thing is, i'm wondering if Comeau faked the severity of the hit. the way he laid down you thought he was going to miss the rest of the game, turns out (from what I've read) is he never missed a shift. sounds to me he did an acting job there

As much as it would please me to see a Penguin get nailed for something, there's nothing there to nail them. Comeau was looking southbound heading northbound into a southbound body. Just the fact that he had his bucket thrown off by his spinning body was enough for the ref to call the penalty, but there was nothing there to hit Letang with, the ref just reacted to the result of the hit and not the actually mechanics of the hit (shoulder to shoulder, no impact with the head). Letang just caught him unaware.

Good hit, jumpy ref.

It wasn't blindside, but it was an elbow to the head.

lol please tell me you're talking about another video. If not you've lost all credibility to me :(

shoulder to ******* shoulder, awesome hit

This was a gorgeous hit. Didn't hit him late, didn't use an elbow, DIDN'T HIT HIM IN THE HEAD.

I miss the old school hits like this one; the hard shoulder checks in the chest or ribs or shoulder. Now you have these ESPN check of the decade type hits to the head that shows a lack or class and respect of the game.

I'd get everyone kicked out of the nhl. I'm gonna skate with my head down and let them hit me. Haha on you, NHL players!
